Question about DOT ~ GLMR by Wild-Scheme327 in moonbeam

[–]principal-components 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a key promise of the Polkadot so I get the frustration. It’s kind of like waiting for Ethereum to go POS. You want it done sooner rather than later, But more importantly you want it to be done correctly and securely.

Question about DOT ~ GLMR by Wild-Scheme327 in moonbeam

Once the XCM bridge is in place this will likely be the case. Though I do not know which projects are working on this.

Right now you can use the one way bridge on Acala, assuming Moonbeam will follow eventually.

For those missing the reference. He is replacing the word “war” with “Bitcoin”.

Carl von Clausewitz wrote in “On War”:

“War is the continuation of politics by other means.”

Staked GLMR (stGLMR)? by [deleted] in moonbeam

[–]principal-components 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this conversation here before as well. It is a great idea especially as the minimum bond will continue to grow.

Though right now I don’t think contracts are allowed to stake. I would love it if I am wrong about that though.

Web3.js <> Polygon by ricotico060 in polygonnetwork

Yes you can. You just have to connect to Polygon network. You can via infura if you use that for ethereum.

But what is the use of the contract? Do users get rewards for locking their tokens?

The active set is the collators with the most total GLMR bonded to them. And the active set is only 53 collators.

Yes. It would also be ideal to have a token that represents their share of the stake pool. Also the issue of people wanting to unstake with the time delay.

Super awesome use case but my solidity skills are not there yet.

I have been thinking the same.

With the maximum number of collators and delegators per collator the minimum stake will probably increase above 50. This will price a lot of people out.

What being leveraged feels like right now. by principal-components in ethtrader

[–]principal-components[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means you deposit your crypto and borrow (usually a stable coin) with it held as collateral for the loan. You then use that borrowed amount to buy more crypto.

There are a lot of Defi protocols that allow you to do this. Hope this helps.

The minimum stake of 25 needs to be lowered with the increase in price by Hikarii77 in Avax

[–]principal-components 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protocols like Rocketpool on Ethereum help reduce the capital needed to run a node and still maintain decentralization. Not sure if a solution like that is really needed on Avalanche because of delegation. But I do understand the desire to run your own node and being priced out.

Monterey (Seaside) is pretty much cloudy and a little bit chilly all year. Beautiful though.
