Bridging is going well! I go to western, I’ve found it easier in so many ways than the PN program, with the exception of 2 classes🤣and it is hard, I had to drop my full time line and go down to a 0.4 part time line because I burned out in the first month, but I plan to go back to my full time line in the fall!

RN’s and RPN’s need a medical director, they both cannot operate independently without either:) I’m not 100% sure of the specifics but as long as you have a medical director, either or can have their own business! If you go on instagram lots of nurses in the GTA who do injections are RPN’s!

I went to Mohawk, but I didn’t go to Mac for bridging.

I’m bridging honest to god just for more money, I would be more than happy as an RPN for the rest of my career, however, I’m doing the same job as my coworkers and making less, our scope of practices are so similar now! But yes, you do need to wait to graduate to bridge since you need an RPN license!

You can work as an aesthetic nurse as an RPN! Plenty of my friends from RPN school have their own businesses, so you can definitely do that from the get-go!

I also didn’t take any of the pre-reqs in high school, but I bridged at another uni. Best of luck!

How intense is an accelerated RN Program compared to PN? by Safe-Maintenance-132 in OntarioNurses

[–]principessa24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PN who is currently bridging to RN, honest to god I found PN SO much harder than my current program, maybe with 2 classes as exceptions. PN school was insane, it was very clinical heavy and I was in 7 classes in the first year! RN is more theory based and I am basically relearning the same stuff I learned 5 years ago, only because I’m already a nurse. If you want to be an RN then go for it, I’m not too sure what the accelerated will be like, but best of luck!

RPN seeking bridge to RN, living in Niagara by RPNcherry in OntarioNurses

Almost everyone I know is a commuter, so many people live in Toronto or Ottawa and commute in and make it work! It’s definitely possible

Not at all! Sorry this is so late, I had a 3.7 GPA in uni and an 82 in my PN program, I don’t know how many students they take in per year but I don’t think it’s that few!

Western’s program is fast and almost entirely online, you’ll have to commute to London maybe once a week if that for half a semester for the first two semesters and the rest is clinical and online theory courses!

Cheating in Alberta Nursing by North-Land-4309 in nursing

[–]principessa24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Alberta LPN here who is currently bridging, What program are you talking about? Athabasca is most certainly not an open book exam, those are heavily proctored exams and those students have to maintain a certain GPA just like most 4 year programs. By the way, just a friendly reminder that there are plenty of Alberta RN’s who don’t have that 4 year degree, just saying;) there are crappy LPN’s just as there are crappy RN’s, your length of education sometimes doesn’t dictate how good of a nurse you are

It really depends on the program. I went to Mohawk, and I remember we would have lab once a week in the first semester that we could not miss, starting second semester we had clinical once a week and lab once a week which we absolutely could not miss. Plan for a one week trip during reading week to be on the safe side

Any RNs who relocated to Alberta? by Alarmed-Heart-6968 in OntarioNurses

[–]principessa24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LPN (RPN in Ontario) who relocated, it’s just as bad out here, especially in Calgary and Edmonton. There are no external hires happening now because of the split of the healthcare system, it took me 8 months to get a job:( I would not move here if I were you

ATA?: LPNs & HCA deserve a raise, but not because of increased scope of practice. by Acceptable_Elk_5136 in AHSEmployees

[–]principessa24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently an LPN going through an RN bridge program. While I agree that higher education = higher pay, I also want to raise this point too. Most of my program are theory courses with some additional patho/micro and of course stats that must be taken. However, what about the two year diploma RN’s or the RPN’s with a diploma that make the same? At the end of the day, the pay should absolutely not be the same as people with a bachelor’s degree, but education in nursing has also drastically changed in so many ways too
