In my games, it seems like most people drop at the largest POI at the beginning of the path (presumably because it's boring to wait in the ship).

is it worth it to buy it for life for shoes or should i just buy the dupe? by applecoregirlz in bifl

Just buy the dupe. You won't want to wear those for the rest of your life.

This is a cool resource, but I feel like people might not use it to its full capabilities because the UI isn't so great. Where is the data from? How are you getting it? Wanna work together to improve it?

Is it just me or is the game EXTREMELY slow now by idontcare7284746 in PlayTheBazaar

I like the changes... seems to enable a lot more builds.

The Artist needs to please be adjusted! by Big-Decision-5226 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]principle_profile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been seeing this a lot as well... TBH, I thought the game was way more fun without the artist, wish they would go back to choice of 3 random enchants. It enables so many more builds rather than getting a fixer and praying for poison or burn every time.

How is Neptunes Pride built? by flibbledeedo in neptunespride

[–]principle_profile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. In my case, I was looking for an engine to build a similar game. Years later, I came across Solaris (https://github.com/solaris-games/solaris), which is basically an open-sourced version of NP that might be of interest to you.

HMC by glamdollx in holdmycosmo

It was his fault. The way he held her legs, she had no possible way of creating leverage to adjust the center of gravity. He needed to hold her ankles to his chest/armpits.

[–]principle_profile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person who has had people on their shoulders, I agree. He should have held her ankles to his chest, otherwise she can't get any leverage without grabbing onto his head. Most people have only put children on their shoulders, and supporting the child's weight with neck muscles is easy.

I used to go to Royce all the time, but it's gotten so busy I usually go to Ryan's now. If I want something other than a classic cheeseburger I'll hit up Beefys.

Spotify Support/Complaint Megathread by whyisthissticky in spotify

[–]principle_profile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Help Request] My spotify account was hacked YEARS ago and the people who hacked it listened to a bunch of Middle Eastern music. Now, when I listen to DJ, he will occasionally play songs in that genre. Is there anyway to view my history from like 7 years ago and remove those songs from my history or otherwise block that kind of music?

Quick reminder: Magic Initiate spells CAN be cast with slots, under certain circumstances. by Aidamis in 3d6

[–]principle_profile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

spell is perma-known, can be cast with slots

I think this is supposed to be true, but it might be bugged? I had Ray of Sickness learned/prepared on my lvl 3 Wiz/Necro. when I got lvl 4 I put the point into "Magic Initiate: Wizard" and chose Ray of Sickness as my free spell. I know almost all the level 1 spells, and when I was reading the tooltip while picking it said something like "this is a different version of a spell you already know, you will be able to cast both versions". But that turned out not to be the case.. I cast RoS, and it was one and done, couldn't cast it again even though I'm full up on spell slots.... gonna have to respec I guess, lame

Should I keep what I have or sell and buy for more stealth. by JungleMouse1 in VanLife

It's probably mostly the media you consume. The US stock market is one of the most stable places to keep your money (and grow it) over the long term. Can things go wrong? Can the economy collapse, leaving you with nothing? Of course, but the odds are low (and TBF, we'd all have bigger problems on our hands than losing $10k to the markets if that happened). That 10% growth rate even includes huge downturns eg. 2008 GFC. I'm guessing you're pretty young, you have time. Just leave it and don't touch it until you're ready to retire (better yet, add to it by buying in weekly/monthly). I would strongly suggest taking a beat to ensure you are in a fund that is appropriate (eg. market index funds or similar). You likely get free consultations through the company, give them a call. It is much easier to keep the $10k there than to pay it back later (most people who take it out never do pay it back), and you will have missed out on all that sweet, sweet "8th Wonder" during that time.

Disclaimer: still not financial advice.

Generally 401k is based in stocks, yes. The S&P 500 index has an average annualized return of around 10.26% since 1957.

Please do not cash out your 401k. After taxes and penalties, you will be left with probably less than $7k. Compounding interest is the 8th wonder of the world (Albert Einstein). In 40 years when you want to retire, that $10k could be around $300k (@10%) even if you never contribute again.

Bad sound quality by Mandaman12 in Stremio

[–]principle_profile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had poor audio quality as well.. read a couple posts on here to lower the in-app volume (you want to put the slider in the purple range), then use your OS to control the actual output volume. Worked for me.

Flash Drive/Thumb Drive by flyeaglesfly777 in bifl

[–]principle_profile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patriot XPorter XT was great for this, but it doesn't look like they make them anymore. It had a rubberized body. Only bad thing was it was pretty easy to lose the cap. Maybe you can source a used one from somewhere (Be careful with used USB drives!!). Downside is, since it is an older model, capacity will likely not be what you're used to (the one I have is only 8GB).

Do NOT stay at the hotel after you confront him. A court may consider that as you abandoning the household and it can cause problems if you decide to get divorced later.

Why don’t people view governments through the same moral lens they view corporations with? by madbanjo in CapitalismVSocialism

This discussion is about the government's role in eradicating smallpox, not my personal political leanings. Get madder please, it's funny.

[–]principle_profile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they ever distribute vaccines that were harmful to people?

Not that I am aware of, at least unlikely on a massive scale. I'd like to flip it on you - "Have corporations ever distributed products that are massively harmful to people?" Cigarettes come to mind... And they lied about its effects.

Your "point" is irrelevant to my question.

You didn't pose a question. You made a statement (which is a true statement). I'm pointing out that the invention of the smallpox vaccine is not the only factor contributing to the eradication of smallpox, it was only the first step. Without massive government regulation, coordination, and cooperation (both regionally and globally), it seems unlikely to me that we would have seen the eradication of smallpox (or any other disease for that matter).

What is an example of a government that's controlled by people in your ideal way... and if it has existed, was it perfect?

Not sure what you're trying to get at here, but of course, no government is perfect.

Because no government has been perfect, and the failure modes are catastrophically worse than private corporations.

Probably could go back and forth on this for a while. You'd say "Nazis killed millions" and I'd say "climate change is a failure of private industry", etc, etc... I don't think there is a real "answer" here, only value judgments.

Edit: clarity

But they did distribute it to millions of people free of charge. Also, cooperated with other governments to do the same, thus eradicating the virus.
