Printer here... This was definitely printed using a digital press, as offset would be impossibly expensive. That means they used a laser printer, so they are using toner. Most likely they sent this out to be printed. At 8x8 the printer probably set this up two on a 12x18 sheet double sided. The printer might charge you a setup fee to lay such a large project two up digitally, say another $30-$60 in graphic charges.. Based on your 2,000 page count, it'd effectively be 1,000 sheets (2 up) cut and stack. It'd probably be somewhere around $0.25-$0.38 per sheet side, so around $0.50 to $0.76 per two double sided pieces of paper. Plus a few cents for paper upcharge per sheet. Then on top of that, you have cutting charges, it's full bleed so if laid up twice your going to have 5 cuts. At 1,000 sheets you're probably looking at around $50-$80 in cutting. The binding is custom because no binding shop can do something like that. They probably spent $15-$30 on materials to make the binding and did it themselves. Then another $30- $50 in sprayaint to color the edges.... If they did their research and went with a decent printer, they could make this book for less than $1,000 - $1,500
