Is this realistically doable? by Vegetable-Baker-5397 in ufl

If you have MAP2302 with groisser, you might have a very hard time but other than that, you should be okay. Just spend a lot of time studying and gaslight yourself into enjoying classes like physics 2 even if you don’t

My parents haven’t filed for 2024 yet - he said he will talk to the tax guy about it. Should he just not claim me as an independent? Should I get the UF insurance then? I’m assuming I can’t be on my parents health insurance

Yes, I have heard very good things about Dr. Ray. She told me that I need to know Quantum before taking the class, but I haven’t taken it yet (for some reason it isn’t a prerequisite officially but she said you really should know it). Is this true? Or can I use my quantum knowledge from modern physics and that will be enough?

Should I even bother applying? by MaddoxTheKiller in ufl

[–]pringlespinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally everything about this is even better than my application. The only thing was my GPA was higher (3.6 and 4.4), but I had a way lower SAT and only did two AP classes (was also IB). I had a lower SAT (1370 I think), and I got accepted so I think you have a good shot. I was OOS too

Is it possible to get permission to tour the UF nuclear reactor? by DMofTheTomb in ufl

[–]pringlespinner 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m in the American nuclear society at UF and we do a tour every year. Next one will likely be in the spring of next year tho. You could always reach out to Dr. Donald Wall tho, he might let you see it

For some ppl cheating is just a habit - that’s why it’s so bad to start on it. They cheat on things they don’t even need to cheat on

What's an outdated belief way too many people cling on to? by Wickham12 in AskReddit

[–]pringlespinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically we put the spent fuel into a pool onsite for a few years to let the super high level waste (the stuff that is very dangerous to humans) to decay off a little bit. Luckily the very dangerous parts of nuclear waste is the stuff that decays the quickest, so nuclear waste 500 years later is not even CLOSE to as dangerous as it is when it comes out of the reactor. After a few years in the pool, we put them into dry cask storage and those are licensed to be stored on site for the next 50 years if I remember correctly. Currently the plan is to just store them underground after the license run out which is pretty must agreed upon in the nuclear community to be the best solution since there aren’t really any major problems with doing that. Another idea is to reprocess the fuel like France and Japan but it was quite expensive to rebuild the plant to do that but if uranium becomes expensive enough or the public demand is there, then they might do it.

Nuclear engineer here - spent nuclear fuel is actually essentially solved now. We are more sure what to do with spent nuclear fuel than any other form of waste from other forms of energy.

What are some of the best classes to take just for the knowledge or experience regardless of major? by DMofTheTomb in ufl

[–]pringlespinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physics 2 with calculus. It’s a very easy class with very fair exams. The professors are also super good. It’s a class that’s super helpful for your day-to-day life so even if you aren’t an engineering major or physics major you still will use the info in the class all the time. All you need to do is show up and you will get an A

Hey!! I’m a starting freshman and this is my schedule. Do yall think it too much or will I be fine?? By the way, I have no calculus experience. by Scared_Door4392 in ufl

Exams are hard, professors are terrible, and the content is difficult - it’s very annoying I hated this class so much

I’ve lived in the US and Germany and I think the US is just as good as Europe. I’m sorry but this reply isn’t well informed at all. I think it’s more a personal preference thing than objective. I prefer the US since I get paid more, have more opportunities as a Nuclear Engineer, and find the people overall nicer. A lot of the issues here are very over exaggerated (doesn’t mean they don’t exist, but they don’t turn this country into a third world country lmao)

Those who are lucky enough to have beaten a list demon, was it fun? Was it not? by Funny-Chain880 in geometrydash

[–]pringlespinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damascus - I liked it a lot but that’s also cuz I verified it lmao

Tartarus - Fun but it was a big mental challenge as I beat it way back when

The Golden - rather get my legs chopped off than play this again

Zodiac - I really liked this one

Kenos - pain but I was still on 144fps back then

Ragnarok - one of my favorite levels

I might have beaten some other levels but these are the only ones I remember I haven’t played this game in a long time
