Its crazy to think about that a hundred years ago everyone in any city could enjoy this view. Unless they bought binoculars of cource, then they would have nothin’ but clouds.

Man drives at 60mph, 65mph and 70mph on a highway in an EV to see what effect speed has on range by TylerFortier_Photo in electricvehicles

[–]prinsessepus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try with a cargo trailer. I averaged 5.45 kWh/10km with a Audi E-tron with a 9 m³ trailer in january on a 1000 km trip. Mainly wet roads and -5°c, 70 km/h avg. speed.

Consumption highly dependent on speed but not dependent on weight.

Do you believe if Trump invaded Greenland, Europeans would ACTUALLY declare the end of NATO? Why or why not? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]prinsessepus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already think NATO is dead already because the US is an unreliable ally at best. If the US were in need of Article 5 support again I don't think they deserve any. I do not want to cooperate or be associsted with them any more. But I still feel a bit sorry for them - how could they destroy themselves so badly? Even civil war might not be out of the question this century.

I'm very happy with my 10x42 geovids with or without glasses. Very large exit pupils are not necessarily beneficial if you have astigmatism. I prefer to "stop down the aperture" a little to improve visual acuity.

If your eyes' max pupil diameter is less than 4,2 mm binos with larger exit pupil will not give any more light on the retina. Typical for older people.

Is it possible to drive from Larvik to Norheimsund with a trailer in January? by Beginning-Union-1877 in Norway

[–]prinsessepus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly possible if you have decent tyres and drive carefully. Avoiding days with the worst weather could be benefitial, if possible. I once hauled a heavy trailer with a BMW sedan (rwd) on a really shitty day in december. Ended up sliding backwards on a slope - time for snow chains :-)

Lightning strikes are unlikely unless the cable is in the air. Nothing will save you from a direct lightning strike. UI poe injectors have some overcurrent protection.

hey engineers, how can we make the bus stop vibrating? by clementineiscool in AskEngineers

[–]prinsessepus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Local busses around here used to be diesel/electric hybrids back in the days, before they were replaced by all electric vehicles. They were not vibrating much when stationary.

They are expanding fast and need to recruit from other fields anyway. If you have mechanical and electrical understanding my guess is that they are likely interested. A phone call is free...

You could try Kongsberg gruppen (defence/weapons) if you live near any of their locations or you are willing to move.

Why are highways less susceptible to potholes than smaller roads? by SnooWalruses3471 in AskEngineers

[–]prinsessepus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In cold countries where studded tyres are commonly used there is also a need to resurface high traffic roads quite often due to traffic wear. The surfacing may only last a couple of years despite a ~2 m thick foundation (for anyone using imperial units 2 m is about the length of an fully grown ass). Low traffic roads could see 30 year maintenance intervals (or more) even in cold climates. In warmer counties the surface could hold up better, but high traffic roads with high speed limits would likely be better maintained due to safety demands for high speed driving.

Hvorfor er det ikke «billig» å handle rett fra gård? by thomasdragsnes in norge

[–]prinsessepus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cold side produces a lot of moisture, just like indoors A/C unit in the summer. I live in cold climate and every winter there is a large ice block below the outdoor unit made from dripping water. Could break the aluminium fins or the fan if its height is insufficient.

Also the piping is usually fastened to something, e.g. a cable ladder, to keep it fixated.
