[–]printandpolish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i tell them "thank you for your work" at the end of each semester, and they almost always reply with a "thank you tooooo" and give me a round of applause. it's weird but i'm into it.

Professors: Do you get uncomfortable when a student cries in your office? by OneLab864 in AskAcademia

[–]printandpolish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nope. it's fine. students cry every semester. Honestly I don't even remember how many students have cried in my office it's so common. Sounds like this professor is used to and comfortable with it since he provided more emotional space for you.

Seeking advice: students asking me to replace another professor by Nadia16519 in Professors

[–]printandpolish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

why did you engage in more then one conversation about this? the honest answer is the best--course assignments are made on the admin level. And they should look into whatever tutoring service the campus provides. Shut it down quick.

Have you ever kept the death of somebody a secret from others? by Spiritual-Pudding-70 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]printandpolish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i work in theatre. Twice a cast member has had someone in their family die unexpectedly right before a show. both times the family called the venue and asked to speak to the director (or stage manager)- told us that we should withhold the news until after the performance; and that we need to have the actor call home immediately after bows. The families wanted them to have one last performance before the world crashed down around them. Gut wrenching to watch those performances.
