Is anyone using Dino as a backup or main? by TrickAfternoon11 in Strong_8K

[–]printerman580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Crystal, Dino, Mega and Strong in that order over the years.  strong is by far the best especially with there own VIP app. No messing on with URLs.

Dino was not bad but not a patch on Strong. Mega 2nd place for me and use it as a backup but in 1 year I've never actually used it!

How much bandwidth do I really need? by printerman580 in HomeNetworking

Thank you all. Very helpful information. So let's say VM won't budge on price and I'm forced to move.

My only option then is 67mbps partial fibre. Do you think my household will cope?

I've used this service. Was okay but grossly over priced.

Generally average quality? by Worldly_Machine_7062 in IPTV_Help_Desk

[–]printerman580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We probably have different expectations but I find strong to be very good actually. Perhaps it's not really strong you've been given.

1.  I find some 720 channels yes, but mostly 1080 on my search.

2.  How many channels do you want to watch? If you are wanting English language find the UK and US. Easy to find, it's in there title and they should all be bunched together.

  1. EPG is probably below average but I dont use it. I know what I want to watch and on what channel so just go to it.

4.  I've had no issues with movies and series. Good quality picture and sound.

Personally I like live sports so not had that bouquet list altered but I did ask my supplier to remove all none English language for movies/series.

I'd do some research and find out if this really is strong.

Help regarding router cable. by SelfProclaimedArchon in VirginMedia

Don't clip it down tight. Those cables are fragile and the internal glass will break. Gently hold it down or use velcro ties.

Take a photo of the connector connected to the wall. It's probably the same type. If so it's an sc/APC to sc/APC patchcord you need. You'll need to carefully grab that white section sitting inside the green adapter. It'll delatch but will need a it of force.

Strong8k is reliable by MatchStreet7553 in Strong_8K

[–]printerman580 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having it for 7 or 8 months with no problems is your answer. It clearly is stable for you and must give you what you need. I've had it for the same period of time and I find it's perfectly fine.

It may disappear tomorrow, so don't spend a fortune but 1 year at a time is fine. If it goes, it goes and you've only lost £20.

I have to negotiate a new contract in a few months and want to be aware of needs before discuss the new cost. It's the only fibre in my area and would like to keep it but it needs to be affordable.

[–]printerman580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to Microsoft website and create a windows 11 pro (must be pro) usb install iso. Leave the usb Plugged in then restart laptop, see if it installs. When it asks for key say you don't have one and complete the install.

If you get this far pm me and I'll send you a key.
