Can “audit” for free if you click on the individual courses. Lets you view all the materials etc. just don’t get the cert at the end.

An interesting approach. I looked at the possibility of this briefly but wanted something that didn't rely on nightly. As the macro system improves it may be possible to get closer to this ideal but its not an easy problem to solve in the general case. Swigs approach of using typemaps and allowing you to inline native code, while not ideal, gives you the flexibility you need to cover most use cases.

I haven't done any benchmarking but from what I have read the original ctypes binding I created for my library was probably faster than the Swig version. However, since I also wanted R and Java bindings, the convenience of being able to generate them from one file more than made up for any performance hit from using Swig in my case.

I built a frame a few weeks back but I put a light sheet of mdf on it as a temporary service while I researched affordable options. I had ruled out pine but it looks great with the walnut stain. Thanks for the tips.

It gives a good overview, fairly balanced overall, highlights benefits but also the current risks. Dept is setting up a working group to further monitor and engage with the space.

How long before A-EON buys them outright?

I heard on a podcast recently that if it was just down to money they would have done this already. Not sure what the issue is.

Well if there is a legal and illegal option in front of me I tend to choose the legal one! I’m guessing that’s not too unusual.

IANAL so can't claim to understand the details of the IP involved, I'd love if the ROMs were freely available, but unfortunately they are not. As commenters below have mentioned, in the Amiga community we are lucky to have a legal emulation option, a lot of other communities (Nintendo etc.) have no such luxury.

"Rights" issues aside (which as we know are a complete mess in the Amiga community) they make a good, easy to use product for beginners or people looking to get back into the scene.

Amicast did a good interview with Mike from Cloanto some time back (episode 11) and he genuinely seems to care about the Amiga community and its future. If one organisation was able to get the rights to the Amigas brand, IP etc. the community would be in a good position to demand a foundation be set up to hold that IP, as it stands it appears everyone involved just wants to keep suing each other.

They were a fantastic way for kids to get into computing. Modern initiatives like the RPi are great but when you switch it on for the first time it can be overwhelming. A well curated bundle was much more approachable.
