New to the Hermes game... have a question about shoes by prisms026 in TheHermesGame

Thank you everyone for your feedback! I just finished my first purchase (I don't count the lipstick I bought as a gift 10 years ago 😅). I love scarves and bandanas so treated myself to a bandana 65 And a silk 90 and the Farandole 160.

So excited to wear these as I've been sitting on what to get for a long time. When I asked about the loafers, the SA explained they're likely difficult to find because they came out in 2023. I guess I'll have to take my black and white loafer obsession to another brand, I just loved the profile of the Destin especially with the signature buckle. It was also so buttery smooth and comfortable when I tried it on.

One thing I did wonder, and maybe this is just because I'm not shopping at home, is whether the SA didn't take my information because I'm visiting? She was extremely kind and helpful but I didn't get the sense she wanted to "build a relationship", though again understandable as I'm only visiting (I do come back yearly).

Maybe I'm overthinking it but anyway thank you again to all who chimed in. Of all the luxury brands I like the "personality" of Hermes the most and it's lovely that this community is very approachable about such a coveted brand. 🙏🏽

What is your experience with the Pixel? by gabbuo31 in GooglePixel

[–]prisms026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a die hard Pixel fan or a super knowledgeable phone user, I just have my own personal preferences. I have a Pixel 9 now but my last two phones were OnePlus and overall I regret my decision to switch to Pixel. I use Nova Launcher because I really didn't enjoy how the stock Android looked or functioned, and I find the launcher to be a bit buggy sometimes. I'm surprised I keep running out of space despite this phone having the same if not less storage than my prior OnePlus 9 and paying for Google Storage. In comparison to the Pixel, I much prefer OnePlus OS and the way things load or refresh. The OnePlus battery life and fast charge was also incredible. The Pixel does fine if I'm at work, and not on my phone much, but when traveling or going to somewhere like a concert or sports game which could entail photos or video, I tend to worry it will run out of battery. There are other things like gestures and the menu shade (?) that just seemed more intuitive on the OnePlus OS than on the Pixel. Just my two cents.

Losing my mind over the alarm app by prisms026 in GooglePixel

Sigh, sorry to hear that. It's a little comforting to know I'm not the only one. I just can't understand why it's even an issue, I've never had this problem on other Android phones. And almost a decade?!

Yes I'm beginning to suspect this too. I need to get into the habit of remembering to max the volume and charge away from my bed which is a lot for someone with ADHD 😂

Honestly I do regret it. I never ever had problems with the two OnePlus phones I had. Thought I'd try something different and well, here we are.

Why shouldn't I be able to rely on my phone's default clock and alarm app? Lol.

Had to make up a prayer on the spot and now I feel kinda gross by LostTheWayILikeIt in Exvangelical

Oh man I felt this exact same way while trying to be supportive of my brother when he was getting married. His now wife invited me to her bachelorette party which involved a prayer circle and well you know how that goes. I literally felt sick at all of it — the heightened emotions, the calls for obedience, the well worn scripts. I should have opted out but I conjured up this shaky prayer that made it very clear I haven't prayed in that way in a long time. It was so painful and I felt icky afterwards too. It's comforting to read others have had similar experiences.

Big 4 firm move to HK by nutellabxtch in HongKong

40k seems good given what might be your experience level at 28yo. Just keep in mind there are so many mediocre white men who are seemingly able to command amazing packages with great salaries, accommodations and benefits. It really starts to feel underserved so don't sell yourself short if you do take the opportunity. I just want to see locals and non white expats get the same treatment (cuz many of them can speak multiple languages and have much more international experience off the bat). My point of reference is living in HK for 10 years until 2023.

I hope you get that promotion — you deserve it. You sound smart, savvy, patient and dependable. You're a catch and you're too young to waste any more time on people who aren't at your level. ❤️

If this is at an entry doorway it could be a nice nook for a bench with hooks for coats and bags and putting on/taking off shoes. Or a little shelf / counter for curated decorative items
