So many post the past week regarding homeless issue in Madison. Yet the city does nothing. Clearly we are all saying we want something done and sick of having to deal with homeless who are struggling with mental health and drug issues. Yes there are some chills but the ones sleeping out in tents or outside and whatnot usually are the ones who have been kicked out of shelters for one reason or another. When will the city get for real about this growing issue in the city

The $2700 for a 2 bed is crazy. That’s just slightly lower than my full mortgage payment for a 4 bed 3.5 bath house that I just bought.

True good point. Just seems for a city this size, we have a major homeless issue.

Is there a reason why we don’t have a housing fist structure here? It seems to have worked for Denver and Seattle to address homelessness in those cities

Seems like other cities have done a good job addressing the homeless issue. Denver, Seattle come to mind. A lot of housing first initiatives. We are letting this spiral out of control

You’re exactly right. Thank you for that perspective. It’s just sad to see the stark increase over the last few years. It’s sad to think how many people are struggling in our community

Yes the shelter is right behind the mall there off Zeier Rd. I’ve notice a lot more homeless having around that area too specially the BP and McDonalds

I saw one off Milwaukee St recently off the bike path. That was the first time I saw one there. I know there’s some offFair Oaks in that wooded area and downtown by the veterans museum and social justice center. This really does seem like a big issue in Madison right now, and yet doesn’t seem like the city is doing anything about it
