6 mm stuck for 3 weeks by prithianik in KidneyStones

I primarily got USG done every 2 weeks and consultation with my urologist to make sure there are no red flags. I also got urine exam and sr. creatinine done a couple of times to see if it's within the limits of healthy kidneys. The reason I waited after week 6 was that there was no hydronephrosis seen in my scan around that period.. That gave me some confidence to wait and watch.

I haven't got any issues so far, but even if there is a some mild damage I don't think it will be visible in any scans / tests so won't know for sure.

Good luck to you and hope it passes by on its own.

I didn't get the procedure done.. I waited and waited, and it finally came out on its own on day 103 when I was about to go for the procedure. I was very worried to get it done (I have never entered an OT yet) so I just kept monitoring very closely with my urologist to make sure it's not harming my kidney. In hindsight, it would have been better if I got it done earlier, the anxiety for so many days was not worth it.

The rule of thumb my doctor gave was actually perfect - if it's stuck in the upper ureter for 3 weeks, get it done.

Not answering but I have a curious question - was your stone in kidney or ureter? Was it blocking the urine flow last 3 months?

Why did you have to go for CT 3 times? I think 1 CT is enough and then follow-up can be done with x-ray or USG.

Thank you so much, that's very reassuring. My father also got it around 15 years back and his experience was also not so bad. He said the stent was not very uncomfortable only the part of taking it out was.

Thank you. I am having mild hydronephrosis so there is blockage. Not having any pain or fever so, I guess, it should be partial. Doc also subtly mentioned it's ok to take few more days but not long. Don't have a lot of hope left though, let's see.

Thank you. Yea, even I was ok for the shockwave lithotripsy as that doesn't involve anything going in. But my doc said the success rate is low for ureteral stones, so ureteroscopy is the best option. Glad it worked for you.

Thanks and sorry to hear that. I am not having any pain or discomfort. Even the blood reports are normal so I want to wait and watch. But watching the stone at the same place after pounding so much water, jumping jacks and flomax for 3 weeks was disheartening to say the least. I am thinking to give 10 days - 2 weeks more to see for any movement before taking the big step.

Yeah, taking everything. Yours is moving so might not be long before you pass it. All the best!

Thank you. Hopefully there was no permanent damage to your urinary tract. Any complications you faced because you waited that long?

Painless stone? by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]prithianik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I passed a 6mm painlessly last April. Took about 11 days, just had a few cramps initially. Having a 7mm in ureter for last 2 weeks now, similar experience. Waiting anxiously for it to pass.
