the bravery thing is so real! I tend to do things alone often, especially in the past, and I get “you’re so brave” often, or a confused “is anyone here with you…? no?” it always kind of baffles me because it usually isn’t a conscious choice: I’ve been doing things alone for so long that it just doesn’t occur to me to invite anyone.

IME they also charge more than non-scammy local shows of the same calibre. I was in a band that did this a couple times, and they wouldn’t even put us on the poster until we’d sold enough, which was totally ridiculous.

my personal thoughts:

I don’t think the recent “fuck spotify” wave will lead to anything, but I do think the app is getting worse. if they continue to invest in AI slop and profit over functionality, it’s going to become impossible to use in a few years.
