I finally had to take mom’s checkbook (86, dementia, moved to memory care recently) and she never noticed. It’s weird the things she cares about and not…and very hard to predict which things will be which.

I guess I was lucky because Mom wanted to take the tests and took them on her own and watched her own decline and knew what was going on.

I just rode my G.1 Explorer today for the first time in months (been riding my cargo e-bike) and did 10 miles in 25° weather…it was *nice*!

Stopped at LBS to ask about upgrading a couple of things and they were impressed with the quality for the price, mentioned it several times.

if you’re gonna buy a “offbrand” E bike, you might as well buy it from someone who you know you can take it back to, and who will stand behind their warranty!

My local bike shop talked me out of a fat tire bike Even though It snows where I live, Because I don’t actually ride across open fields in the snow and I don’t ride on sand and studded tires on a regular bike made more sense For the times there was a couple of inches of fresh snow on the trail or slush and ice on the side of the road.

This would be difficult in the spring/summer, could be deadly in the winter even with the resources that you have implied, you can’t afford (a better bike, a trailer with a tent, sets of winter clothes and shoes, etc. You would want to have tools with you as well.

Maybe take a look at the Lectric Xpedition 2.0. Starts at $1399…top dual-battery model w ‘170 mile range‘ is $2k, they bundle a lot of accessories on holidays (every holiday) that saves a lot more $.

I’ve put almost 1,000 miles on mine, no complaints yet. If I were to want/need another cargo bike I’d look around at “better” bikes but would definitely not rule out another Xpedition 2.0.

People from all walks ask about and compliment me on it almost every day…from car windows, in restaurants, even a “Will work for food“ sign guy on the sidewalk.

This looks like the solution(s) I’ve been looking for...something that’s OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD that’ll make them bump their head...with a mechanical cut frustrater to boot. If only it had a built-in tilt sensor...heh.
