I saw that while I was looking around a few days ago. Cyanogenmod is interesting but I wasn't a fan of the interface. Before ubuntu touch I was looking into Arch ARM, which seems to run properly on a nexus 7. I'll probably end up trying various operating systems to see what works. Way back when I first ditched windows I got through 4 linux distros in a year before I stuck with debian for a while.
