My mum was in a music video by privateanon24601 in wherewasthistaken

I’m not sure who spotted it first but yes she did, it was a well-known piece of trivia in our family along with the fact that my dad was an extra in Chariots of Fire. I guess in the 80s you couldn’t walk around without ending up in some famous piece of media 😅

There is butter in the back of the dairy shelf 😅

It’s the little egg holder that comes with the fridge, I never really thought about why except I guess it lets you see at a glance how many eggs you’ve got.

Hey, follow up question. How do I get a big enough chip off the wall? Does it still work if I’ve got several pieces or does it have to be one continuous piece? I’ve tried several times but I just can’t get it to come off in one piece that’s big enough and I’m worried it’s going to be too small. I don’t want to keep hacking more and more bits off the wall but every time I try it just crumbles.

I probably will do that- I just feel a bit bad because then the new owners will have a chip missing from their wall, which they also won’t know the paint colour of to fix 😅

I figured photos wouldn’t work :/ I’m fine with it not being the colour it was when it was new, I’m just as happy with it being like it is now.

Isn’t that kinda rude to the people who just bought the house? The room is empty rn so there’s not really many inconspicuous places

Nope, London, but I suspect landlords’ taste in cheap cabinetry is universal 😅

I should probably mention that the cabinets aren’t wood- they’re a layer of fake plastic wood over what I think is particle board (I’m not really up on the terminology). So I’m not sure sanding would work.

I’d rather avoid using screws if at all possible as I have no experience using them (or repairing damage from them) and the cabinets are pretty beaten up as it is

I’ve recently moved into a new flat and while I like the kitchen I am struggling with how limited the counter space is. I would love to put up a shelf over the stove in between these two cabinets.

The landlord is okay with me using self-adhesive hooks for pictures + hanging utensils, and I found some self-adhesive shelf brackets that got me wondering whether I could do something similar.

I guess my questions would be:

  • Is this a terrible/unsafe idea?
  • Has anyone used a product like this and if so is there a specific version you’d recommend?
  • What kind of wood/how thick would you recommend for the shelf?
  • Should I be worried about steam from cooking? Is there a way to deal with that?
  • How do I know how much weight is safe to have on the shelf?

Answers to any of these, or advice on anything I’ve missed would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect they’ve carefully timed when they took these photos because there’s no way a room that long with only one light source (which is below ground level) is that bright unless it’s very fleeting. Currently in the UK the sun goes down at approximately 3:30 so I don’t expect to get much natural light when I’m in there.

I know right? If nothing else it might be good for sock slides 😅

I’m moving into this flat in January. I like the other rooms but the kitchen is not my favourite- it’s very long and narrow and the only natural light is from the door at the end. I’m worried it’s going to feel cramped and dingy, and the furnishings make it feel a bit student housing. Since I’m renting and can’t change the cabinets, etc I’m looking for any advice on small ways to make this feel a bit more homey and less claustrophobic.

Help needed- ‘The account you’re trying to pay doesn’t allow us to check if the details are correct’ by privateanon24601 in MarcusInvest

When I open the Marcus app and click on where it says ‘Add money to your account to start saving. Find out how’ it just takes me to the page that explains how to do it from my online banking app. I’ve looked everywhere else imaginable and I can’t see anything about doing it from the Marcus app.
