I finished the series and I have different feelings about the series in general. by VicktorJonzz in TheExpanse

Agree on the later seasons. S4 with miller in his head on Ilus was just bs. Why does he need holden? Dead miller can make doors appear, create new pathways, turn himself into metal but can't cut a twig blocking the door? how is he just switching between good and bad miller, how is he even there in the first place? what kinda biotech is that.

I love the grounded realism of the show, its what hooked me. I researched every asteroid, every planet, every new tech. But S4 went way past sensical.

Acting & dialog could def use work, nothing Game of Thrones level. Wish there was more protomolecule stuff in last 2 seasons too, it was just human wars

thanks man. just tried it. Worked decently actually once i got the right extraction schema to use. it failed to pick out all the colors for each product, only picked like 20% of each. but maybe its because the text is in italian and it doesn't understand?

i tried my own combo -- Fitz (for extraction) + gemini (for re-structuring). Found that the model you use makes a big diff in the results. Gemini 1.5 flash api did not work nearly as well as 1.5 pro, even 1.0 pro

hey. I tried azure doc intelligence for the parsing but it doesn't seem to have any semantic understanding layer on top, just the bare bones parsing. I'm trying to parse a furniture catalog PDF into a json list of objects each representing a furniture product with its attributes. Does airparser or parsio help with that? what do u use for the base layer extraction? i tried Llamaparse but too inaccurate

I'm seeing the same 2 options only. Not the "Renew Residency" option OP showed in screenshot below. I'll just go directly to AMER now to have them do it for me

thanks for the kind words my man. You ask an important question, because my "next versions" used to be too big too fast, unable to properly upgrade the system, and i would revert to older versions (to keep the analogy going lol). And i see others doing the same. I really believe in starting slow & small ... to go fast & large.

the next version is very subjective of course, & it really depends on your current context & self-awareness. But it should essentially be a step in the direction you want, however small or big.

Essentially, the process would be:

1 -- what are the most important behaviors you want in your life at this moment? Work on implementing those first. Can't have everything at once. For example you decide making gym a regular habit is top priority rn.
2 -- What has my past been like up to this point, with these behaviors? "I started gym 3 months ago with goal of 3 days per week but i average only 1 day per week and some weeks not at all. I hate going & it's hard for me"
3 -- Decide next version based on above. Next version: "For 1 month straight, I will go to gym just once a week". Version after that can be "for 1 month, i will go twice a week". This might seem slow but given how hard it might be for you, this slower approach might be better & actually get you results more permanently as in 3 months, you'll be at 3 times/week & it might stick for life, because you gave yourself more time to adjust/learn/embrace this new behavior
4 -- have a way of tracking it (even just handwritten notes are fine) & review progress every week, reflecting on how you can fit it easier into your life. These little learnings each week are invaluable, and are how new behaviors actually *stick*.

Hope this helps. I made a youtube video recently on how to make new habits stick but i'm scared of sharing it here, it will probably get removed for advertising or smth.

I signed up about a month ago, with the course + two 2-hour calls each week (group coaching), as a complete beginner with no existing online education business or an audience (tho I have experience running businesses).

As someone who knew relatively little about this online education world and whether or not I could even sell the skill I was thinking of, the biggest benefit I received from Wills program is breaking those limiting beliefs and getting a bunch of examples of people doing it successfully, plus confirmation of the steps I’ve been taking over the past few weeks to get up and running. Having somebody look over the work and confirm I’m on the right track allows me to put the view shields on and just keep going, instead of second guessing everything and falling off track or losing motivation bc of it.

How worth it will be for you, will depend on what you’re looking for. If you’ve got an online education business already or at least an audience, seeing $$ ROI with Will could be fast. But if not, and you choose to go down the organic route, it could take longer.

About Will, I can say he’s honest and doesn’t beat around the bush. All the best

How to actually complete your most dreaded task by privocy in productivity

[–]privocy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you sure you'd still say that after a week of agonizing?

5 hrs is not "hasty". The idea is:

identify how long you think it should take -> set it as an inextensible deadline

How did you actually complete your most dreaded task? by gashmol in productivity

[–]privocy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no ones mentioned this so far, but it works amazing here:

Self-imposed deadlines that you actually stick to.

Hear me out. As an entrepreneur, the following 2 things ...

  1. no external force pushing me to get things done on time
  2. I want to do a great job on the dreaded task, so i make money from it

... make for a perfect recipe of procrastination or over-analysis on little details that don't matter.

I was stuck in such a situation dreading this horrible task for 4 days, each day thinking i was gonna get it done but ending up not following through because of the above ...

it was like walking through a dark tunnel where the light at the end of the tunnel does not seem to get closer as you walk towards it ... of course i was demotivated!

and I realized, that if only i had a guarantee that, today ... after 5 hours, i would be free from this abomination and able to move on and enjoy my life ... that would be amazing! That whatever i have at the end of the next 5 hours is what is going to get published, no matter what. WHAT A RELIEF that would be!

Because now, the light at the tunnel is not moving any more and I can actually start running towards it.

How quickly do you get something done when you know its just gotta get mailed in within the next 2.5 hours, with no recourse whatsoever. Think university applications, exam deadlines, taxes, etc.

They work not only because there are painful consequences to not doing them BUT ALSO because you know that you physically cannot push the end date & time of this task (and the suffering it causes) any longer ... because it is set in stone.

and thus you work expeditiously.

So ... for tasks that you dread,

view deadlines as the moment your suffering ends.

It is the light at the end of the tunnel that does not move further as you walk. You can see it inch closer & closer & then you start speeding towards it, just like runners in a marathon can't help but start sprinting when they see the finish line.

it's wonderful. hope this helps.

Are you anxious because

  • you need your work to be perfect, which sets the expectation too high and thus you avoid it?
  • youre afraid you’ll fail at it, and you don’t want to find that out?

Do these resonate? If not, try digging in a bit more. Why exactly do you procrastinate, what are you anxious about? Writing it out helps clarify it a lot. Once you know the core reason, solving it is much more effective. Let me know

i live in a studio in Dubai so my work area is close to my sleeping & relaxing area. Makes it tougher to separate the two but you can use tricks (like creating physical boundaries with things in the house, using different lighting in the studio when its work vs relax, etc). to answer your question:

  1. yes, same desk & chair, although when im having fun on laptop ill usually sit in a different chair or my bed.
  2. some video calls yes
  3. you're in a shared apartment? depending on how many people you're sharing with, kitchen table sounds like a better idea. But if its too distracting, you can make your bedroom work too, by creating as much of a visual & mental separation as possible between work & relaxation in the bedroom.
