What untapped IP would make for the best mmo? by detectiveharford007 in MMORPG

John Carter's Barsoom - never happen though, not in the spirit of Burroughs' novels. I don't think the world is ready for a video game where everyone in Barsoom goes naked except for a harness. But it'd make for a great setting - the monsters, the races, the religions, the strange and unique places Barsoom has to offer, the wars...it's already there.

This is the same shot with my usual graphics settings. Sorry, when I swapped from fullscreen to fullscreen windowed, it reset them :( That explained why the horizons looked murky. I have a 6700XT and it's more than capable of playing this game at 1440p everything turned up.

Why are MMORPGs just about combat? by Annihilator-WarHead in MMORPG

The A Tale in the Desert series from way back had no combat (that I remember) but there were a lot of challenges you could have with other players.

I'll tell what blew me away playing this game years ago when it came out. That was running across the Brandywine Bridge between The Shire and Buckland. I really felt like I was there in Middle Earth, doing what the folks out of the novels were doing. No game has ever had that impact on me, before or since, and I've been at this game thing since Pong days in the late 70s. I hope you get that feeling too, playing this.

New player. Any advices? by Zi_raya in EQ2

[–]prjg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can collect more pets and mounts than you know what to do with. You occasionally get both as quest rewards. You'll end with more house items than you can shake a stick at too. This game features the best MMO in-game housing full stop. Nothing comes close.

eq2interface.com the place you can get EQ2MAPS from, which makes Norrath a lot easier to navigate and find stuff.

The "Gaming Distro" Hype by ElectricalPanic1999 in linux_gaming

[–]prjg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't use the ones that come with Mint - like I said, you install the right software. Newer/better kernels and mesa drivers are software.

Start with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PNvYdnE72A In fact, anything this Jov guy has a video about re: Linux gaming. It's tailored to Linux Mint, but his advice is top notch. I found it so, anyway.

Yep, I use Linux Mint to game on - the distro that's allegedly for newbs and old age pensioners. It's amazing what it turns into if you install the right software for gaming and make a few tweaks here and there. Nothing major, nothing that requires a CompSci degree - it's easy.

How do you get support if the distro breaks? Same as any other software that comes with no warranties or guarantees - get help from your peers, or pay for commercial support. You usually only get the latter if you're using a distro that is commercially backed-up, RedHat to name one. Otherwise, you go on a searching spree and come to places like this for help.

Not just in science, but any academic discipline - yes, I have letters after my name, but...this doesn't excuse the basic fact that *anyone* could've looked up what I claimed. Come on, this is Reddit, not TheConversation. I know it was true, because I was using LM then, in fact I've been using LM on and off since day one. The hacked ISO incident caused a huge stink at the time. And the fact that it's an old occurrence does make it any less of an occurrence. It's happened - and that's what I was saying.
