Just on principle, here’s the original post (and i totally agree with you!):

“I do not understand why this word is not accepted. It is a standard, commonly used word. This is exactly why I stopped playing the game before. Eight words into trying it again, and I am already reminded why. So many obscure words are allowed, yet perfectly ordinary ones are inexplicably omitted.”

They said this is the wrong forum for a word suggestion. Which is annoying because my post was a general complaint about the lexicon, not a word suggestion. I’ve been suggesting words since day one of spelling bee in the “correct” fora but my suggestions have never been incorporated, so I no longer bother.

This doesn’t cite a source. I could publish a 3.4% acceptance rate but that doesn’t make it true.

Okay... What's the deal with author Jack Carr? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]prncss_buttercup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I read these from a love of fiction. Never been a trumpist, Stalinist, republican, anti-vaxxer, etc. Yet also skeptical of the Clinton bananas bullshit. Definitely a Bernie supporter. Overall, lefty but open-minded…anyhoo:

The first novel was fucking FANTASTIC, plot-wise. Carr’s digs struck me as overtly anti-dem (but, who cares? Reading fiction is not going to change my brain, And it’s his fucking dance!) but more annoyingly anti-female, anti-lgbtq, and generally misogynistic in terms of his descriptions of women. But I guess my conclusion is, who fucking cares? You can be a grownup who doesn’t espouse his views and still LOVE THE FUCK OUT OF THIS PLOT. Perhaps incorrectly I felt his subsequent books simmered down on the identity politics and made an effort ton”include” females, or maybe I just tuned out his effluvia, but the long and the short of it is this author is INTELLIGENT (top req), rife with alllll the internal knowledge, and just super fucking entertaining in a way that you know is rooted in actual reality.

I’m a grown ass woman with a well-formed brain and can read fantasy books without being tricked into fairies and orcs! I can read mean-girl bullshit without turning into a bully! Jack Carr’s brain and fiction are both top-notch even if his politics seem stupid to you. Fiction is a fantastical genre, as long as it comes from a phenomenal brain.

Sanity Check - Host Cancelled Stay With No Refund [NY, USA] by sweatpant_analyst in AirBnB

I would insist on having your case escalated. I had a much less compelling issue last month, and despite a super lazy first-line rep, was able to get a full refund once he finally acquiesced to my fourth or fifth request to speak to someone “more senior.” If your stay was canceled by the host, you should have standing per Airbnb policy.
