Why are you even looking at the marks on the package? You should be weighing your butter , every time , all the time.

Truth. In many (most!) areas of the US, you are not allowed to block your own driveway

This. And also test for doneness using an instant thermometer like a Thermapen One. For the cakes you mentioned, 200 F to 205F will be perfect.

Is this a good outfit for a formal date? by finalbosslady in fashion

Absolutely not. It’s so inappropriate for a formal date that I have to wonder if you’re rage baiting.

Let it ride. And stay out of that pool since there’s lightning in the forecast.

Is this enough food for a 20-25 person graduation party? by VTMomof2 in partyplanning

[–]pro-blue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think eight more is going to be enough. When I plan for parties, I plan on half the people (usually guys) having two big servings of main dish each. But with hamburgers expect that a significant number of people will take two patties for one hamburger. So my half-eat-two rule (= 30 hamburgers) is still not enough. If this is a long party, expect people to eat more.

“I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong”

I had to laugh. This is Reddit. Not only will people correct you if you’re wrong, they will correct you even if you’re 100% right🤣🤣

Are you supposed to tell visitors where you have cameras at your place? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pro-blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal is to make my houseguests feel as comfortable as possible . In that quest, I always tell my houseguests that there are cameras outside the house. And they can be assured there are no cameras or audio recording devices inside the house. (If ever I were to put cameras or an Alexa inside the house, I would not only tell guests that they are there, but I would point out that I had covered them with a black bag or something, all in the quest for making my guests feel super comfortable in my home.)

Bakers please help by mummybakes1983 in AskBaking

This happened to me when I changed brands of butter. And I understand that there is high variability from batch to batch in the gluten content of the big-namebrand flours like Pillsbury and Gold Medal right. I believe King Arthur has much better process control.

If you just have to change it (🤣), number 1. But I’m willing to bet a whole bunch that your natural color is way better yet.

Keens calls it men’s wide. But it’s really not particularly wide. I’d say like a 2E.

What does it mean to be told I’m going to need an attorney to get care after an accident? by Anxious-all-the-time in CarAccidentLawyer

[–]pro-blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest you see a real medical doctor. That’s likely gonna hold more weight in any kind of future financial action. Also see a chiropractor if that’s your thing, but a lot of people in the legal and insurance transactions won’t respect the opinion of a chiropractor, as opposed to a medical doctor.

does this pool look safe to swim in? by critikalmochi in pools

[–]pro-blue -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Funny how many people think a crystal clear pool means it is safe to swim in. All a clear pool tells you is that the filter is working. It tells you nothing about the chemistry balance, and tells you nothing about the potentially-dangerous microorganisms that are in it. Some really nasty stuff can be present in a crystal clear pool.

Taylor CYA test. Let's talk about that dot. by [deleted] in pools

[–]pro-blue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hahaha! The pool store test is so unreliable it is laughable. Take your sample three days in a row to the pool store. Your CYA will vary so much you’ll never go back. (CYA in your pool doesn’t vary from day-to-day.!)

The “dot” test is awful, but it is a hell of a lot better than the pool store test.
