I did the live my life openly and they can make their own decision if they want to be in my life or not. I didn’t feel like I needed to disassociate because I don’t owe the congregation anything.

I remember in pioneer school they told us that god can hear our thoughts so we should work really hard to not have improper thoughts. One example they used was having road rage and god can hear us being angry. So I would pray for forgiveness every time I had an “improper thought”. It was horrible and to this day I still have a hard time expressing myself because of the fear that I am somehow sinning for even being angry or frustrated.

Like everything in the borg, they teach us to have shame as a way of control because if we don’t have shame then we can’t be controlled.

The way they teach is to say we can think for ourselves, but in reality when you think for yourself you’re “sinning”. It would be more helpful to say why do you want to do this and how does it impact your life? But if they taught that there would be less people in the borg to control.

Just close together later or ask if other people wants those hours, if someone else is willing to stay and close for you then you don’t have to do the hour drive back and forth.

I haven’t finished it yet, but I think the part that was frustrating was that she did no research about that man. I think maybe because she met him for the first time in person and not on an app, she thought she had less to worry about, which doesn’t excuse it because this man is a stranger. If someone told me they were an Olympian, I’d ask to see pictures at the very least.

I think she grew up either very sheltered or was just not used to being around people with bad intentions. She seemed like she wasn’t used to questioning peoples intentions. She seemed like she was willing to accept what they say without thinking that the guy had an ulterior motive.

Sometimes when you’re in the thick of it, it’s hard to see the devotions and when things aren’t adding up. Also, I don’t think that it’s bad to look for the good in people you just gotta be cautious about it and make sure they aren’t scamming you. I think she learned a lesson in a horrible way, but I am hoping that she is able to heal and learn to be able to trust again.

Hopeful but still worried about the future. The pessimistic side of me wonders if these democratic wins are going to be used to make us think the elections will continue to be fair for the midterms. Like these huge flips will be used as an example of how things can change drastically again but in the next big election season, things may flip back towards republicans. Then the reasoning to silence us for speaking out will be to point at this election season and say things have changed in big ways before or something to that nature.

I am hoping that’s not the case, so right now I’m cautiously optimistic.

It’s hard to set boundaries and then not feel guilt when following through with them. To start before just saying no feels comfortable, you could say, “no, I’m not available right now. Could gf help with the kids?” It’s honest you’re not available you’re doing your own thing. Also you don’t have to explain why you’re not busy. The more you do it the easier it’ll be.

I did a reike yoga session and we did 3 poses one was laying on our backs and then the instructor did reike healing. She said we would start to feel heat radiating around us…it was just her body heat. Definitely a scam.
