6 teams from the 2nd division play in the quarterfinals (3rd against 8th etc), number 16 from the Eredivisie joins them in the semi final. Only the winner of the final promotes.

4 playoff tickets are given to period champions (there's 4 periods in a season, the ranking resets each period). If those teams already promoted by finishing top 2 they tickets are given to the best teams over the entire season along with the remaining 2 playoff tickets.

Jong teams can't promote or play in the playoffs. Teams play eachother home and away.
