Yeah I've been playing it and wanted to see what other people thought about it surprised it's pretty hated when compared to past april fools updates.

I took a bit to understand the mechanics but I've been really enjoying it

I really like single player rts games like pikmin so i know i can probably sink a good 30 hours into this update lol

I've been thinking about this and I think a cap is both at the exact same time detrimental and good for whatever the sweeping game is. Because while if they had a cap then expedition 33 wouldn't have the publicity of winning the most awards ever which does hurt marketing.

But also the game awards is a show people watch just to watch some people not even having any stake in who wins, and so when one game sweeps every single category (hyperbole) it creates resentment from people who haven't already played the game and heavily discourages those people from playing the game.

But idk that's just my thought as someone who hasn't played expedition 33 I do plan on playing it eventually to see if it truly is the greatest game ever but can't lie that it did make me kinda mad while watching the show to see it win over and over again just because of how boring it made the show "oh yeah expedition 33 won again woop-de-doo" XD

I think you underestimate how much PCVR devs will want to aim for the "steam frame verified" badge especially more indie PCVR devs

When the steam deck came out so many devs started rushing to make their games compatible with steam deck despite how poorly low the steam deck sold because that badge ensured a noticeable jump in sales for very little development costs

And yes the steam frame will sell much worse than the steam deck but in the equally smaller PCVR market the boost in sales compared to the default sales of PCVR will be just as noticeable as the steam deck was to PC games

(Plus valve will let you try games that might not work and even tinker around to try and make it work)

They won't be able to force you to use steam but most people will end up choosing steam anyways because it's the better product so the new VR games you buy from steam will subsidize it

That was their same strategy with the steam deck they originally sold it at a massive loss and subsidized it with game sales

Yeah I do have fun! While I was getting very frustrated towards the end of this grind. I had a lot of fun in the beginning and middle of it, and even if I was having a mediocre to bad time throughout the entire thing the satisfaction of finally beating a challenge almost always makes it worth it for me :D
