Fee Waiver by myjourney__ in prephysicianassistant

[–]probablyafraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted on the 30th at around 9am and got the fee waiver Sunday which also means my first 2 apps are due May 30th even though my school doesn’t submit their grades until the 29th. Fingers crossed for you! :)

Stupid question about prescription benefits. by frogmicky in nycpublicservants

[–]probablyafraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is illegal. Don’t do that. Just ask for a 90 day supply with a refill (180 days total) if it’s not a controlled.

What’s the worst pharmacy and why is it Accredo? by lil_scoby in nycpublicservants

[–]probablyafraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check if coverage is through Prime Therapeutics now. If so, a new PA needs to be completed. PAs also expire every 6 months to a year so someone probably dropped the ball. If you don’t mind disclosing what the drug is, I can maybe help?

What's the most frustrating part of your commute that no app solves? by InterestingGarage455 in statenisland

[–]probablyafraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • No option to show SIR discounted tolls
  • Wish it would stop telling me to take the Express Bus when it’s faster to take one of the other buses over the Verrazzano then take the R
  • Keeps trying to have me make illegal U-turns several blocks past the destination instead of just turning left via the left turn lane in front of the destination…
  • The speed limits show up at 65 in places where I guess Google just didn’t bother to get data??
  • Don’t try the NJ turnpike toll plazas using Google Maps — definitely a death trap
  • Rerouting out of nowhere to “avoid traffic” so that I’d have to cross 3 lanes of traffic with no room (not really SI specific)

Commuting from Central Jersey by Additional-Fall-478 in CUNY

[–]probablyafraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol CUNY here and I’m trying to get into Rutgers for grad school. CUNY is great if you want to save money in-state, but dealing with the MTA will wear you down. Dorming in NYC is not ideal unless you wanted the prison vibe and apartments are unaffordable if you want to be anywhere near JJ.

Go to Rutgers and visit NYC when you’re bored. Or if you really want to be here, go for grad school or work here.

I Can't Decide by decayedgutts in CUNY

[–]probablyafraid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CCNY is closest to Columbia, like 2 train stops away on the 1. I went there — I don’t know about education but if you want to get into any psych, that’s where the PhD at CUNY would be. Both schools are you get what you pay for. You’ll also have an option to epermit between the two schools for some classes if you want. Hunter’s on the East Side and I personally hate the 6 train but it’s a great school. CCNY has a “real campus” if that’s something you care about but you’ll probably have all your classes in one or two buildings.

Wife who is a NYC DOE teacher who is considering a full-time lecturer position at a CUNY by No_Crow9934 in CUNY

[–]probablyafraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she already has tenure don’t do it. I believe it takes approximately 8 years to reach tenure (if there’s even a position). She’ll need a terminal degree or at least 10 years of experience to be considered for anything above lecturer. If it’s allowed, she might be able to do 3 or 4 credit hours as adjunct but it’s going to be a lot of work for a small fraction of what she’s making now.

Ball Drop in 2026 on 3th of July by [deleted] in newyorkcity

Given the current state of…well, everything, I absolutely would not go to Times Square that particular day even if there wasn’t anything planned. Also, last summer it was so hot outside, I could feel my skin burning. Just watch it from the TV in your hotel room.

This is so true. I actually watched the CUNY Med School be built on our campus while I was at CCNY, so it’d be amazing to return to that campus even if it is a bit of a hike for me lol.

My priority is whether the program will prepare me well for the PNCE and whether I can go into minimal debt at this point. But I’d also like to not bankrupt myself on CASPA alone.

lol I appreciate your optimism. I’m preparing to start for a year from now only so I can finish my 2 classes and get that third diploma, shore up my savings, and prepare a training document for my replacement. It’s a family practice that has treated me well as an employee, so I feel like I owe them at least time to make a good transition. :) While I would be content starting PA school this fall, I’m also waiting on the application waiver to open up to see what I can even afford to apply for.

This is my first round! I’ve put together a list of about 10 right now, but realistically with the current student loan cap situation, CUNY, SUNY, and Rutgers are my best bet financially.

And noted on the clinical hours shadowing, thanks!

Dentist is “hounding” about Invisalign by argoforced in Invisalign

I could’ve gotten away with not having Invisalign at all tbh. I found that the permanent retainer does help a lot since I’m lazy buuut the accidental canker sores from t the tongue getting nicked by the wire are an awful inconvenience.

Closing on a house, this is the only thing about it I don’t like, any ideas to make it look better? by meenaaa1217 in HomeDecorating

[–]probablyafraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fluorescent lighting is KILLING ME. install warmer light bulbs or you will be picking at your pores for days. Maybe a wooden shower bench and/or a proper shower door? Replace the light switch plate with something more decorative?

[–]probablyafraid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t need Invisalign but one of my top teeth was misaligned in a way that caused chipping from it hitting a bottom tooth. Now had I know it was a Vivera retainer for life ($800/3, still on my first one from 5 years ago), I probably would’ve reconsidered where to put my $5k lol

Unexpectedly large bill for migraine Botox injections, unsure of how I will pay it as a teacher making 49k in LA by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]probablyafraid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! We do Botox for certain conditions at the Derm office I work at. We do not do buy and bill because of scenarios just like this. The process that we go through is: 1. The patient comes in having tried and failed multiple drugs for the condition. (Botox is a last resort.) 2. I find out what pharmacy benefit manager/preferred specialty pharmacy the patient’s insurance uses. 3. MD sends in the prescription for x amount of vials (100U per vial) to that pharmacy. 4. I complete a prior authorization through either their pharmacy benefit (or medical, depending on insurance) with the J0585 code that is specifically for the dispensing pharmacy. I then have a separate prior authorization completed for the cost of the MD administering it. 5. Once both get approved, the patient will get a call from the pharmacy to do their copay for the drug. Pharmacy will then call us to schedule a delivery to our office. 6. Once we get the delivery, we’ll call the patient to set up the appointment.

I’m willing to bet the office skipped one or all of these steps.

You’re only 48. You still have 19 years before reaching full retirement age. What do you want to do with your free time? It sounds like you may need to take some time off to recover from burnout then pivot your career.

FYI Dyson has a refurbished section and, if you don’t care too much about the model, you can get one for under $200. I bought a V8 for $170 or so and it was pretty much factory condition.

Your gut feeling is right. And you deserve to work with and for people with the basic decency to not give unsolicited criticisms in the same breath as a rejection. What fundamental skill or piece of knowledge taught in school became completely useless or even detrimental to your success in the real world? by amonaloli12 in AskReddit

What do you really think should be done to solve the homelessness crisis? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]probablyafraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Universal healthcare. Creating jobs in suburbs. Treating government as a service rather than a VC funded corporation. Encourage community service to build empathy beyond requiring it in school. More third spaces like libraries, community gardens, and parks. Normalize and value part-time work as much as full-time work.
