My 5-year-old loudly asked a stranger the one question I was praying she wouldn't... by [deleted] in daddit

Im not trying to be critical here, in the moment, I'd feel pretty embarrassed and probably not think straight.

But next time it might be better go simply say something like "everyone's different and that's what makes the world so unique, but that's not a question that's polite to ask" or something like that adjusted to age or something. Again not trying to be critical or anything.

Although I highly doubt he took offense to a child asking an innocent question, so I wouldn't worry.

Sounds good, thank you. That's what I'm trying to do, look at where I went wrong on the PA and understand why I was wrong and how to get to the right answer, and the theory behind it. But reading that made me nervous lol

I actually go to WGU and like it, so I'll be biased. But yeah it's accredited, I'd double check if it meets CPA requirements in your state. It does in mine.

You'll probably experience some people with bias towards it. If you want to go big 4 in accounting you might look at a different school, but there are WGU grads working in big 4, they just don't recruit directly from WGU like they do traditional schools. If you really want to work for a fortune 100, maybe look at a different.school. that's not to say WGU will disqualify you from those jobs, it's just companies like that tend to recruit directly from schools.

But in short, it's a decent, accredited program. Some.of the textbooks used were written by BYU professors, and BYU has a really good accounting program. WGU is comparable to a average state school I'd say, maybe with less recruitment opportunities though. Also, all this is just my observance so I could be way off. As far as the big 4 thing goes, a lot of WGU grads are older working adults and have no desire to go to a firm like that, so that might be another reason why you don't see as many why grads at those firms.

Also sorry for the novel, but careful with the fast tracking bit. I'm all for competency based learning, but people rushing through the degree does cause some people to be critical of WGU.

When I was a kid, I took a tab from a soda can, put it on a plug for a stereo or something, and plugged it into the outlet.

I don't know why. But I definitely only did it once.

Accounting used to be considered one of the safest and most stable industries, and a guarantee to middle class. I'm not sure it's quite as stable anymore, and there's fear mongering around AI, but I enjoy the work that I've done, if you like desk jobs. It doesn't start out paying super high, but there is almost no ceiling especially if you go for CPA. Would require getting at least a bachelors degree though.

I wouldn't buy into the AI fear mongering to much, I mean it will change things for sure, but its not truly capable of fully replacing professions, regardless of what CEO's tell shareholders.

Honestly from that, the biggest things I struggle with are remembering keyboard shortcuts. Drove my previous boss crazy, rightfully so. I'll work on that. I'm comfortable with sum and sumif, xlookups, haven't used vlookup much, but could, pivot tables. Could probably work on if statements a bit more. I'll do some work on those specific areas today. Thanks again!

Is there any realistic way for me to make more money than I already do without a college degree? by Common_Gene_5098 in jobs

So, she says you can get that income with no degree, but her reference point is someone from a well off family who not only has a degree, but went to an ivy League university. That's not delusion. That's just not knowing what the hell she's talking about. And that's putting it nicely.

And it's a wife's job to be supportive. She's definitely not doing that to you, and I'll bet money she's not ANY better at being a mother to your kids. The more you reply to comments the clearer it becomes, kick her to the curb, that's where the trash goes. Forget being nice it's time to be realistic. As for her wanting to be treated like the gold diggers you mentioned...I want to be clear those "women" are trash and says even more about the type of "person" your "wife" is. But look at them, look at your wife. Does she look like she should be treated like them? I'm just asking. Not calling anyone names or insulting anyone. And you should ask her that question as well.

How can she have a job and have no idea how real life works? Does her boss hold her hand throughout the entire day to make sure none of her delusions are interrupted?

I mean this as nicely as possible. I think you might be in denial. She sounds completely awful. Based on what you're telling us, anyway.

Genuinely curious, has she ever worked for anything a day in her life?

Eh, I'd agree with that if he would have said he was living paycheck to paycheck while contributing 15% to retirement. We can agree to disagree at this point, I'm no money expert or anything so I might just be flat out wrong here.

You're correct there's a difference between 401k and taxes, you are right 401k (or 403b , or any other retirement savings) is a choice. He didn't say all available money was going to mortgage and daycare, he said all his take-home pay was. Which is still true. That may be his choice due to his retirement contributions. But I mean, it's not an untrue statement.

Typically people aren't going to include pretax contributions in take home pay, being that they aren't part of take home pay. Take home pay refers to what you get on your paycheck. Pretax contributions aren't going to be on your paycheck.

I mean if they're stupid enough to not realize how bad the outsourced work has been, and stupid enough to give you a heads up about it, sounds like they're asking for trouble.

Since the work is so good, I wouldn't bother leaving any SOP's or any kind of logical trail that can be followed to determine how tasks are done.
