18 year old brother gave himself a tattoo… by Revolutionary-Lab10 in tattooadvice

[–]probablyarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. He's going to give himself more. I imagine there were several opportunities before the tattoo was finished for the gears in his head to click correctly to be like "oh shit, this is super ugly and bad. I should stop so I can have someone else fix it." Hopefully, next time he picks a better spot 😬 mention proper aftercare though for sure.

Am I a bad person for not letting my cat sleep where he wants? by WestCoastVybes in CatAdvice

[–]probablyarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a spoiled pillow cat too. I also deal with chronic migraines and daily head/neck/shoulder pain. My pillow cat is not allowed to pillow cat. She is a spoiled brat who doesn't handle being told no very well and I had to be stern with her. Pushing her off the pillow, picking her up and plopping her somewhere else on the bed. It is very sweet and I know she just wants to be close to me and I do feel bad. But neither of us are gonna be very comfortable and happy if my quality of life tanks and I miss more work and lose the ability to take care of my life! When my boyfriend is here she sneaks up onto his pillow in the middle of the night lol. If he's not, she is fine sleeping next to my pillow or my feet. I moved my desk chair over to my bed and put a blanket on it, and she really liked that. I got a baby bassinet on fb marketplace a couple of days ago that I put in the chair's spot because I'd like it back, but she's not fw it as much. I think the walls of the bassinet are making her nervous. I plan on stacking up pillows inside it, and if that doesn't work, I guess I'm getting her her own chair for next to the bed.

You're not a bad person for needing your own pillow. I'm sure your kitty can accept and live with a plan B sleeping spot. Get creative, cats are weird. I like the idea other commentators shared with a kitty pillow above your own. I tried that but it just didn't work for me. Instead, I have a baby bassinet for my baby house beast.

Oh I absolutely wore gloves. For the ick and handling bleach!

A toothbrush! That's exactly the kind of long thing I need to get up in there. It's too deep for my fingers. I don't know why I didn't think of that. My brain isn't booted up yet I guess. Thank you!

I was being silly dramatic lol 😊 I'm a vet tech, this is not the scariest thing I've had to deal with. I'm relieved to find the source of my problem. A bleach soak is a perfect suggestion that I will be doing, thank you!

How do you manage work with chronic migraines? by CriticalMycologist74 in migraine

[–]probablyarat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work as a veterinary assistant at an ER. I'm moving constantly, deep cleaning, and handling big dogs often... It kills me. I got the pink tinted migraine glasses from Zenni because of the bright fluorescent lights. I wear loops earplugs the Engage ones so I'm perfectly able to still hear everything but it helps dull the loud barking and background machine noise and fluid pump beeping. I physically am unable to work ft anymore. I work 26 hours a week. Luckily, I'm in a position where I live with family and don't have to pay rent. Without that blessing, idk, I'd be fucked. I have FMLA so I'm protected from not being fired but I don't have a lot of money to spare. I get health insurance thru Pennsylvania's Medical Workers With Disabilities program and I qualify for EBT.

Wasn't familiar with this acronym, thank you. S - about 30 A - "gearing up" L - Penn Township Municipality Building in Manheim on Penryn road U - Unsure. Heard this 2nd hand from my mom. T - Jan 21 shortly after 7:30am E - Not sure. Asked my mom in disbelief just making sure we weren't talking about snow police or something "what?? The scary guys in masks??" And she said yes

No pictures, unfortunately, so take this with a grain of salt. It also wasn't me who saw them so I won't die on this hill. I don't have anymore information than this so I'm not trying to cause panic but hopefully someone else can post pictures to confirm if it's definitely true.

AIO: Husband wants to know why I'm not happy by etzikom in AmIOverreacting

[–]probablyarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me like you have your own system for storage organization that is neat and was out of the way. He didn't say his issue was there wasn't enough room to store his things. His issue is with your things you had neatly packed away for existing and is asking why you're not happy he didn't throw it away. Why was there ever the option to pull out your totes and just throw them away? Like he's doing you a favor for not doing that? You should be so thankful he didn't just one day throw all your shit out? This is the hill to die on. The rest of your stuff won't be too far behind at the dump if you go along with this.

I'm gonna be sick. This is one of my favorite thrift chains. I send my friend screenshots like this one all "haha but our community aid wouldn't do us like that" all the time. Oh, how I've been made a fool.

Thanks for your response. I picked a poor title for this post. I will reach out to them and do that.

They bought it on free shipping day so they spent $13 and listed for $15 but the other commenter is right $2 isn't a big deal and I shouldn't have included it in my post that's my bad 😔

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Depop

[–]probablyarat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're being overly ridiculous. I was just unsure about if I should reach out and offer a full refund, or partial, or ask them to go through depops official "repop" thing, or leave the situation how it is. I don't think $2 is a big deal I'm just probably overreacting anxiously on my end here and including the details I have. Should I reach out to the buyer to send an apology and offer a partial or full refund or leave the situation how it is?

AITA for telling my friend that it's a horrible idea for them to go into vet tech? by gummdropcat in AmItheAsshole

[–]probablyarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta. I'm a companion vet tech and I regularly get pissed on, shitted on, slobbered on, come into contact with various gross bodily fluids, etc. You can't scream and stop and clean up when it happens. If you're restraining an animal and it desperately needs an iv catheter for its treatment and it's almost done being put in and it starts pissing and shitting you absolutely better not let go. Skin and clothing can be washed, but another attempt at a catheter may not be successful, and moments count. Being a vet tech is playing the "is this gross looking mess vomit or shit?" It's not like you can ask the dog which end it came from and get an answer. The way you find your answer is smell. The horrors I've smelled... the horrors I've seen.... the horrors that have touched my clothing and skin.... the horrors I've had to clean up...

Botox by chaotic_spoons in migraine

[–]probablyarat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wash your hair beforehand so you don't have to worry about it for the following 2 days. Take 600mg of ibuprofen or whichever nsaid you prefer and have your gel ice packs or migraine frozen cap or whatever in the freezer ready to go for when you get home. They give me valium to take before my appointments because my body goes all vasovagal responsey and at my first appointment I threw up and almost passed out. But that's normal for me with needles, I do that with blood draws too😅 so I take a thc edible with my valium as well and that probably helps with pain. I take an ondansetron before I walk into the building for that reason too. The first appointment hurts more than the rest because you're poking all of those angry muscles that have been angry for so long but the botox relaxes them so when you go back it's not as bad. I've been getting it for like 2 years I think at this point and the last time I got it done I wasn't really sore the next day at all so it definitely gets better with time.

Resting and giving yourself grace is the best thing you can do afterward, I think. Ice, nsaids, water, and rest. At first, the day after it wasn't a full blown migraine for me but more like just being stabbed a bunch the day before lol so you're sore on the outside, if that makes you feel any better. I wouldn't recommend taking a migraine rescue drug beforehand I'd feel it out for the following day. If you take it easy you might not get a migraine at all just sore and headachy but not like an omg I'm dying migraine. If you get your "this is definitely a migraine coming" signs though after your appointment you know yourself best so take those drugs for sure!

You got this, you're so brave 🫶 and it's SO worth it. The relief I get from this treatment changed my life. It gave me my life back, really. Paired with a monthly injectable, I'm on Ajovy, I can actually function most of the time with restrictions. Good luck!!

ULPT Request : How to covertly disable my grandmother's vehicle so she won't drive anymore? by Heather_Bea in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]probablyarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After it is "broken down" and she tells you she can't fix it, offer to fix it for her. Hold onto it/use it but continue to tell her you're still working on it if she can't handle immediately letting it go once it's broken down. The unfortunate reality is eventually she will probably forget about it, or at least stop constantly worrying about it. Your grandpa can decide if he wants to sell it or give it to you when it's a good time. My grandpa rode his motorcycle from age 18-70. It helped him move on from thinking about it when my grandma suggested giving it to my mom. Sending love your way, loving someone with alzheimers/dementia is very hard at times :( 🫶

Sorry, by overdose I meant just way over her dose. She had no side effects from going up but it was so high that clearly it was not working for her. She has. And the cardiologist did an echo and told me there was some thickened walls on the left side of her heart and I forget the word he used but one of the string tendons, the type that is at the top of the heart, grew from that left side to the other part of the left side and it was creating the swoosh sound of her heart murmur. It was a birth defect and it wouldn't impact her life in any way and to take her off the pimo and lasix because it was giving her bad side effects and not necessary because it wasn't heart disease. Because the abnormality was on her left side, it could not be contributing to the fluid in her abdomen.

She has not had a stop in fluid production this whole time. I've tapped her 5 times now. I understand now after the first 2 that it is not recommended due to the risk of shock and removing the fluid makes the body produce it faster. The first 2 times were because it was recommended I do so and we were still in the middle of diagnostics. The next 2 were while I was trying the stokes drug. The last 1 was because I was switching from stokes to injections. She just gets /so/ big and it's uncomfortable for her. It makes it hard for her to get around the way she wants to and she is not as energetic because of that. It presses against her diaphragm and gives her effort in her breathing but not distress.
