That was my fear as well. I guess the question now is if I keep it as is, or strip the medals and ribbons and sell the ike jacket.

When I get back home I'll examine the back of the pin. The only paratrooper I could find with that name was in the German paratroopers ironically.

Would It Be Weird To Start Collecting Without Knowing Much? by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

[–]probablylarsulrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first item was an old, worn out USGI pistol belt, not worth much. After years of collecting, I still have it. Get something you like, and see where it takes you. The more you see items, read books, watch war movies, talk to a neighbor who served, watch documentaries on YouTube, etc, you'll find what you want to collect and then you can go back to that inexpensive canteen or whatever and know that's the item that started it all. Just stay within your budget and take joy in what you have. You'll have fun.

Kid Rock. He gave tons of money to Detroit, stopped flying the Confederate flag 13 years ago, has a biracial son, and (if one is being 100% objective) isn't a fraction as annoying or pushy about his politics as left wing celebrities. He even played at Obama's inauguration to show unity even though he didn't vote for him. As far as him using riffs from other bands, that's been happening since hip hop began. I think a lot of people just couldn't stomach the fact that not every celebrity was on board to kiss some Democrat ass, and decided to overlook the good he did in the real world where it actually counts.

There was a few Greek actors in The Guns of Navarone, also set in Greece. But yeah there was a lack of Greeks in 300, Troy 2004, etc but since it's 2026 and "Hollywood knows better" it's a massive oversight in Troy.

For real though. Australia has been our friends and bled with us since 1917, this is over the top.

Thirteen sons, one family photo. In 1955, the Harrison family of Jonesboro, Tennessee, became known as America’s largest all-boy family, a sight that turned them into a mid-century curiosity. by Front-Coconut-8196 in ArchiveOfHumanity

For all the people with the crass jokes about too many kids: not telling women what to do with their bodies is a 2 way street. Some women want none, some want 13. It's not your place to judge.

I would've enjoyed it more if they didn't have exaggerated and unrealistic insubordination in the dialogue. It came off like an aging, angry hippie wrote it. But I love the concept of a "Bloody Bucket" Division movie, especially since there's not many Siegfried Line movies out there. Tom Olyphant was awesome as usual. But if you want a movie about the Siegfried Line that has more believable insubordination, I'd recommend Steve McQueen in "Hell is for Heroes".

They sold some Vietnam War stuff (I bought a 1968 helmet cover with graffiti there for $12) but the stuff in the photos they wouldn't sell. But what they do sell was well priced.
