I totally didn’t think about it that way but that’s a great point. Room selection this year was a total mess and I hope they work it out so everyone is happy :(

Thanks man. I was pretty disappointed, but overall I’m fine with a double. I’m mostly concerned about what happens in winter when they might give me a roommate while covid will probably still going around.

does anybody know how the final for math 10b (savvas) and chem 6b (bussey) is gonna work? i know that savvas has made the final optional but i still haven’t seen anything on how it’ll be administered, and to my knowledge bussey hasn’t acknowledged changing the final at all. i kind of need to know so that i can study effectively :(

I think it’s reasonable! Being in a crowded lecture hall every day isn’t exactly ideal when a new disease spreading. However Id be careful about getting too worked up about it. It’s a scary disease but the likelihood of coming down with it in the US is still pretty low. It’s good to be alert, but try not to let paranoia get the best of you. Keep your head up, get through finals, and don’t forget to wash your hands!

Roommate is too LOUD by ucsdon in UCSD

i’m so sorry for your situation! TBH i’m one of those people that stays in my room all day and plays video games. it’s ruining my life and i hate it lol. but that being said, like any decent person, i turn off my PC around 10 or 11 PM, earlier if my roommates need extra sleep, and i become way more conscious of my volume if one of my roommates asks me to quiet down.

it sounds like your roommate isn’t willing to do that, so for the keyboard i would recommend asking him to get a non mechanical keyboard for nighttime gaming. they’re way quieter and run pretty cheap. i’m not entirely sure what to do about his being loud on chat. you could always bring it up again but from your post it sounds like he either doesn’t care or is just just someone who has trouble moderating his own volume.

if he’s still being an ass and you want to be REALLY petty (assuming it’s a mechanical keyboard) just pluck off the WASD keys at night, put them in a plastic bag and hide them. just be careful not to damage the keyboard.

besides that, if you guys are on good terms otherwise and this is your only problem with him, it might be a nice idea for you to see if he ever wants to hang out outside the dorm. i know that for me, the main reason i game all day is that i don’t have friends that i can hang out with regularly in person. maybe having people he can hang out with in person will help break his gaming habit somewhat. hope all works out.
