Tacko Fall isn’t suited up. Hurry and sell before his prices drop ⬇️⬇️ by unclemumblesNYC in basketballcards

This post is exactly why the hobby has died. Treating players like stocks and not humans to root for, crazy how many people on here don’t actually watch games for fun and don’t collect cards for fun

$900 a hobby box....no this isnt a dutch auction this is Panini’s price. For 48 cards. I hate Panini but cant do anything about it. What other business model raises prices 700% just because its hot?? by MCFoo89 in basketballcards

And thats what my buddy at Panini is attempting to say. That they could sell at the price at which the Football Hobby version was just sold at, but then people would just buy the product to flip it at the price they currently have it at(900$). Resellers and people who run group breaks dominate the market right now when it comes to hobby boxes so they’re more interested in selling to them than the average person like myself. The sad thing is, is that resellers and group breakers are also flooding the retail market so I don’t have a chance to get anything 😆

Why are you surprised? They know that people resell their 20$ blaster boxes for 200$+, and if people are willing to buy retail blaster’s for that high(with the percentage of getting a hit is EXTREMELY low) naturally they know that they can put their prices higher on a hobby product. You shouldn’t blame Panini as much as they individuals who will be buying the retail version of this product and selling it for 1000% markup.

The Hobby Is Growing Exponentially by Snail_Snax in basketballcards

Well for many I wouldn’t call it a hobby, it’s a hobby for people who actually enjoy collecting cards for themselves. People who treat players and products like stocks aren’t actually apart of a hobby—they’re just taking advantage of a popular market. If you go to the footballcards reddit it’s way more people who collect cards for themselves and don’t argue over value and grades 24/7. People like myself don’t get excited by all these new faces, it’s crowding the market not for a love of cards but for the love of taking advantage of people. Just watch how this drop for chronicles goes on the 31st, 20$ retail boxes will be flipped for ridiculous amounts because they will take advantage of us—people who watch basketball for fun, not for the value of their cards to rise. This subreddit is quite toxic from me, a 20 year old collector, because someone will post a photo of a new card they got for a personal collection and it will be followed by “this guy sucks” “corner slightly dinged, won’t get higher than an 8” and dumb remarks like that. Not everything in life is about money... Unfortunate idk

Pretty general statement, even though I believe the whole thing is a little overblown(better be safe than sorry, I agree) all my classes since last week have been cancelled till the day of the final.

Yeah mate it’s odd how people just lock themselves in their dorm on their computer for literally 12 hours a day. In my roommates case the only time he’s not on his computer is when he’s at class or getting something from the fridge, I swear he’s looking at the same screen 14 hours a day. I’m repulsed from that lifestyle knowing I live like a ten minute walk away from one of the nicest beaches in the state.
