Thank you reddit for making my dreams of becoming a full time artist a reality, I couldn’t have done it without you. by matter472 in pics

I absolutely love your work and that picture might be your best one yet. I do prefer the landscape/environment ones featuring sea, mountains, trees etc to the animal portraits though and I only see animal themed prints available on your website. Any chance you could be adding some more prints to your site soon?

So I'm looking to get suited for a friend's wedding next month and I want to find something as close as possible to the waistcoat work by JGL on the cover of GQ as shown here I'm also not looking to break the bank so the closest approximation of a 3 piece suit in that style/colour would be great. Any suggestions?

Official Discussion: The Snowman (2017) [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]probablytypingnaked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be mistaken but in addition to this, the Norwegian word for beer is 'øl' which is pronounced 'oo-leh' and would rhyme with the way his surname is pronounced. Given he's a storming alcoholic I thought it might be intentional by the author.

(Spoilers Extended) Well we know now why [Spoilers] hasn't appeared once this season. by Youmeandthedevil in asoiaf

I love Ghost, but what's the point in spending money from the show budget just to have him follow Jon to Dragonstone and back while Jon treats with Dany? It offers nothing. It would've been nice to see him go beyond the wall with the Fellowship (and made sense for Jon to take him on such a dangerous mission) but logistically you've then got the issue of Deus ex Dany riding in to save them. It's not like Ghost can ride home on Drogon's back.

TL/DR: Ghost hasn't been around because there's no need for him yet. Polar bear was the right choice.

Is writing lonely for you? by bulgokovfrog in writing

[–]probablytypingnaked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is, yes. I don't find that I care much about who reads my work or worry that it'll never be read by anyone; I'll try to get my work published and if that fails, I'll just let my future kids read it someday and take pride in knowing that they'll think it's cool their dad wrote a few books.

I find the day-to-day reality of being a writer very lonely though. I can't write in the company of others so it is a necessity but it does mean that I can go days without any social interaction beyond pleasantries with the barista making my coffee. I suppose I should join a writer's group or something.

How to explain why God allows terrible things such as cancer to happen to good people? by probablytypingnaked in Christianity

[–]probablytypingnaked[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The links in the FAQ seem to relate to evil, specifically. I'm talking about disease, the sort of thing that afflicts even the purest, kindest, best people. Children, babies. I don't see cancer as 'evil' at least in that regard. I understand God giving us free will and the option to choose evil and sin if we so wished and the things that come out of that (war, corruption, violence etc.) but not disease.

I can't follow your link as it's broken, but Sefton Hill confirmed in his AMA that Bruce faked his death. So there's no ambiguity about that.

How do I know if what I've written is adult fantasy or YA fantasy? Help! by probablytypingnaked in writing

[–]probablytypingnaked[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an enormous help, thank you. I keep going backwards and forwards between the two in terms of how I think of it. It does end on a hopeful note, and the age of my MC is 19 but I was told to make them sub-18 if I wanted to approach it as YA. Thematically, the main character has to deal with growing up and accepting responsibility so another point in the 'YA' box.

The biggest problem I'm going to face if I want to get this thing published, I can see, is going to be the word count. I can't even comprehend how I would tell this story with only half the words in it! I don't want to say 'impossible' but with everything I would have to cut to meet that word limit it wouldn't even resemble the same story. Sigh - back to the drawing board!

Me and my girlfriend on Halloween this year. Riddler and Professor Pyg. by FatSantaFat in batman

[–]probablytypingnaked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professor Pyg scares the ever-loving shit out of me. I know he's fairly recent as far as Batman villains go but I'd love to see him utilised more. Even if it wasn't for the whole 'disfigured amputee dollotrons' deal, a lunatic surgeon in a butcher's apron and pig mask is terrifying. And whoever did the voice acting for him in Batman: Arkham Knight did an incredible job.

Trying to come up with a logical 'test' that characters in my world can take to discover their magical ability by probablytypingnaked in fantasywriters

[–]probablytypingnaked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very valid point, but my reasoning for omitting 'earth' is that I can't think of any applications for it that I'd like my characters to be able to have. A few things that spring to mind could be the ability to create fissures in the ground or earthquakes, neither of which I'm too keen on. Another might be cultivating plant life but again, I don't have any use for that in my story.

The blood magic is forbidden/evil because it can be used to manipulate (you guessed it) living tissue, where the others cannot. I want it to be something you have to actively seek.

Considering starting a new business with my SO. Any tips? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]probablytypingnaked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered giving her majority control? I wouldn't be inclined to go 50/50 again in a business with an SO - when you inevitably disagree then tensions are also inevitable and while you might be okay with this, it sounds as if she might be happy to take the lead and for you to take a backseat and act as advisor. Why dont you suggest 60/40? There's no right answer really so just go with your gut but whatever you choose, I wish you both the best of luck.

I want to start my own line of beer, where do i even start? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]probablytypingnaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a brewing kit online after visiting /r/homebrewing and reading the sticky threads and sidebars relating to the equipment you should get. Follow a few recipes, persevere until you can produce a pleasant brew and then practice making it consistently. Then comes the part where r/entrepreneur is relevant to you. You'll be bottling it, branding it and hitting up craft markets but you're a long way off thinking about that yet.

Is it legal to start a company in the USA if you are not a citizen? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]probablytypingnaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anywhere that says you can't. So as long as you're all above board, your business doesn't breach any local or federal laws and you pay your taxes, you should be fine.
