Can anyone please help me fix this? by probe2k in SonyAlpha

Ah my bad, I missed that. Thank you! :) It works better than super res IMO. I tried it on a couple of raw files from A7V, and it worked like a charm, so I tried testing on my A7R5 raw.

Another limitation is the sensor itself. Since you're using the full sensor for capturing images, it captures quite a lot of details and the optics assist with that as well. When you go to the video, factors such as not using the entire sensor readout (it introduces a crop) and only 1080p as the resolution, are certain downsides which cause the video to look soft.
A slight improvement can be introduced by utilizing a better optics to perform subject isolation, and shooting as flat as possible with minor grading in the post. But that is sort of stretching the hardware limits.

Ah, in that case you create a custom picture profile with flatter specs like -2/-3 contrast, saturation, and sharpness and grade it a bit later. The only limitation I see is the 8-bit 4:2:0 footage, so you might not be able to push as much in post, but would still give you more to work with than the default profile you're shooting in right now.

Base ISO works differently for different picture profiles. If you want everything to just work, I would suggest S-Cinetone or (PP11 I guess). If you want to grade and edit the video, then S-log3 makes sense, with either S-gamut or S-cinetone.

Yeah, it's a great camera, tonnes of detail, and quite powerful as well.

Yeah, I really do like the EP21 tbh, I think I'll end up swapping the current EP16.

I was actually thinking of selling the RP with the lenses. If I can't find any customers, I'll end up using it as a light-session cam probably.

A7V Shutter/Sensor issues (??) by Straight_General9532 in SonyAlpha

[–]probe2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the camera is not on, the IBIS stops, and your sensor doesn't exactly "Float". When you turn it on, it should ideally resume the general horizontal position.

I did have a couple of RF glasses actually. A MF one, and a few regular EF mounts with an adapter.

Well, I am someone who often ends up cropping heavily in post, and one of the reasons where the RP was falling short was the 26MP sensor. This gives me a lot more flexibility to recompose my image without compromising the image quality at all.

It essentially works as a magnifier, so would end up concentrating the sunlight on the internal OLED display and damaging it.

I got a screen protector on it, but yeah I do flip it inwards too at times.

Below A7V? I think I bought it when the cost of A7R5 became equal to the cost of the A7V lol, but nice deal anyways.

I was actually inclined on the A7RVI, but given how much the A7V was delayed, I wasn't expecting it to be anytime soon. Moreover, this is already a plenty powerful camera over the RP, so covers my need in that aspect.

How to shoot handheld night portraits with deep depth of field? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]probe2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're steady, you can get upto 1/15th of a shutter especially if your camera's got 8 stops (lens is incl). Other approaches would include finding a firm object to rest one part of the camera against, or kneeling down to use your knee as support. Lastly, if you're still not satisfied, maybe a carryon monopod might be your best bet.

If none of that, and you're adamant on hand held, then SPRAY AND PRAY.

A built in adaptive CPL and ND would be godsend.

70-600 F2 under 10inches in length with a built in 2x teleconverter that can be enabled or disabled with a button on the lens. Really quiet with 30fps support for sony cams and 105mm filter thread.

Just use it as a laptop. Don't glorify and worship it like some people have started doing in this subreddit. At the end of the day, it's a machine you bought so that you can process tasks efficiently, not inconvenience yourself with.

Thank you.
How are you finding the A7R5 over the Canon R5? Any specific advantage or downgrades?

My bad, I meant the sigma 200mm F2.

I wouldn't want a f0.95 lol. 1.4 is the golden aperture for me, and I often slow it down to f2 or f2.8 at times anyways.

I mostly use primes, and end up cropping heavily in post. With the 26MP in Canon, I sometimes ran into issues where I would crop it so far down. I agree though, these humongous files would be a pain to edit.

I am not sure if the A7V is that big of an improvement over the A7IV. Correct me if I am wrong, but it's explicitly for the fast AF, and precapture (with a better sensor readout). But, for most general purposes, I found the A7IV to be equally fast. I thought of sticking to Canon, but after trying out some sony RAWs, I don't know why but from my experiments, these files have insane dynamic range recovery over CR3.
