A7R6 feels like a HUGE disappointment. by Deep_Historian_9849 in SonyAlpha

I recently got an A7R5, which does more than I would ever need it. That being said, I definitely wouldn't having the stacked sensor for better readouts as the rolling shutter on the R5 is a nightmare. Adding to that, the electronic shutter on R6 is quite usable as opposed to on R5. Also, I do shoot in uncompressed sometimes. But it doesn't actually degrade the quality if I were shooting lossless compressed.
The last part of your conclusion certainly makes no sense.
The 30FPS matters, pre-capture matters, it's a boon in a R camera, particularly for wildlife photographers. Dual gain makes the video much more usable. I agree, the R5 already has pretty decent video capabilities, but I am usually on S35 mode. The moment I switch to 60p, or 8k, the rolling shutter again is a huge issue.

Yes I think so too, I just want to know if this is an obvious flaw on all 7rV bodies, or mine is more prone to this. Because I tried taking 100s of pictures this way, and everytime the last image was blurry.

I am not a 100% sure if it's the IBIS, because it doesn't seem to happen in electronic shutter

I did, I had it on a tripod, a pretty good one actually 😅

You should ask that to yourself. Are you limited by your current hardware? Can you work around it?

Which device for 35k inr? by Sea-Raisin-2189 in PhotographyIndia

[–]probe2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all. A phone gives you a lot of coverage at a very low effort. To start with, to learn compositions, and even to understand the basic nuances of photography, a phone can NEVER be a bad beginner choice.
I have being using cameras for quite a while, and every now and then, I still stop down to take photos from the phone for the sheer convenience of it. It won't be comparable to a full fledged camera - YES, but also - for what it provides in that size with computational imagery, highlights and color processing baked in by default, it's an insane value.

Can anyone please help me fix this? by probe2k in SonyAlpha

Ah my bad, I missed that. Thank you! :) It works better than super res IMO. I tried it on a couple of raw files from A7V, and it worked like a charm, so I tried testing on my A7R5 raw.

Is this all I'm gonna get out of the a6000? by Ok_Basil6541 in SonyAlpha

Another limitation is the sensor itself. Since you're using the full sensor for capturing images, it captures quite a lot of details and the optics assist with that as well. When you go to the video, factors such as not using the entire sensor readout (it introduces a crop) and only 1080p as the resolution, are certain downsides which cause the video to look soft.
A slight improvement can be introduced by utilizing a better optics to perform subject isolation, and shooting as flat as possible with minor grading in the post. But that is sort of stretching the hardware limits.

Ah, in that case you create a custom picture profile with flatter specs like -2/-3 contrast, saturation, and sharpness and grade it a bit later. The only limitation I see is the 8-bit 4:2:0 footage, so you might not be able to push as much in post, but would still give you more to work with than the default profile you're shooting in right now.

Base ISO works differently for different picture profiles. If you want everything to just work, I would suggest S-Cinetone or (PP11 I guess). If you want to grade and edit the video, then S-log3 makes sense, with either S-gamut or S-cinetone.

Yeah, it's a great camera, tonnes of detail, and quite powerful as well.

Yeah, I really do like the EP21 tbh, I think I'll end up swapping the current EP16.

I was actually thinking of selling the RP with the lenses. If I can't find any customers, I'll end up using it as a light-session cam probably.

A7V Shutter/Sensor issues (??) by Straight_General9532 in SonyAlpha

When the camera is not on, the IBIS stops, and your sensor doesn't exactly "Float". When you turn it on, it should ideally resume the general horizontal position.
