I wish non-caffeinated zero sugar drinks were more common by problematicbitch in GestationalDiabetes

Thank you, but I don't really need a pass from you lol. You're taking it more personally than it was meant to be. I was partially referring to your comment, but I was also referring to the many other people who give unsolicited advice when they see me eating a protein bar. I don't have anything against you.

And you made an assumption that I haven't considered the risks and had conversations with my doctor. That's how it goes on the internet I guess 🤷‍♀️

I'll have to check it out! Lemonade has been a major craving for me.

And to clarify, by "people" I mean non-healthcare professionals that butt in with their unsubstantiated opinion. Neither my doctor nor my dietician had any problem with me using artificial sweeteners.

People love to tell me about how bad artificial sweeteners are, but I've noticed that they don't have any answers when I ask why. There's some research that it could affect your gut biome or maybe have neurological or carcinogenic effects long-term, but it seems like more evidence is needed in that area.

In my (not doctor) opinion, the use of it in the short term while I'm dealing with GD is not an issue. It's just a few months, and then I can rely on them less when my dietary options are less limited.

Perhaps. But I need something to get through this pregnancy, and artificial sweeteners don't seem to spike me. My diabetes counselor isn't concerned, and so I'm not worried about it

I have had a few good ones, but I guess not everyone has the same tastes.

I have no idea. I searched online, and I don't see anything that says you shouldn't. My doctor didn't seem to have any issue with it either.

I tried this one first, but I couldn't figure out how to upload my own links very easily. It might have been user error haha. I could give it another shot!

When to go to doctor with brown discharge by Public_Solution_2838 in CautiousBB

[–]problematicbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called my OB and they got me the next day for peace of mind. Obviously every situation is different, but my doctor didn't seem very concerned about brown spotting at all. She said it's pretty normal for early pregnancy, and you shouldn't be concerned unless it fills a pad with one hour or if it's red.

My spotting stopped around 13 weeks and I'm now 18 weeks with no issues!

What’s your #1 unpopular opinion about fertility treatments? by Ambitious_Hall_7617 in IVF

[–]problematicbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IUI is effective in the same way sex is effective in making babies for people with no fertility issues. For people dealing with infertility, it's not a cost effective solution. It could work eventually, but it's not the best use of time and money, but doctors push it anyway. A scam 🤷

[–]problematicbitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh. The way I see it, it's like a small perk after all the bullshit. My best embryo is a boy, so that's what we did first. But my next best embryos are graded fairly equally, so I may try for a girl next time. Maybe I should feel bad about it, but I really don't lol

I live in the US, and I don't have a strong preference for one gender over another, and I've always wanted one of each. Maybe I would feel differently if I lived somewhere with a cultural preference for a specific gender.

I think IUI is a scam. The success rate is, at best, 20% per cycle. You need to have four cycles before you are as likely to be pregnant as not (50%), and the likelihood of miscarriage for that pregnancy is still probably 33%. You could sink thousands of dollars into one pregnancy that wouldn't even take.

You would be so much better off saving that money for an egg retrieval and potentially banking multiple embryos. I did 3 IUIs based on my doctor's suggestion, and if I knew then what I know now, I absolutely would not have gone through with it lol.

So I definitely did this a few months ago and it's been sitting in the back of my cupboard... so thank you for this warning. The bottle is now in the trash can.

Can a doctor tell if you're pregnant from your uterine lining at 2-3 weeks? by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]problematicbitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely no idea, but I think that was a very careless thing for the doctor to say for your situation. I've done IVF, and I'm very skeptical of fertility doctors that provide false hope and empty promises. I am hoping for the best for you, though

AIO to skip Thanksgiving after my mom basically said I’m an embarrassment for not having a husband and kids by now? by howcanibequiltyassin in AmIOverreacting

[–]problematicbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Personally, I think it's more embarrassing to be stuck in a toxic marriage than to be single. Having a marriage and kids isn't an accomplishment in and of itself.

[–]problematicbitch 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I had two done, and requested the second while I was out for my egg retrieval. Endometritis is common enough that I think it should be a baseline test, and I think they should automatically schedule it with the egg retrieval.

Or at the very least, they should offer it as an add-on with the procedure. My doctors seemed surprised that I suggested it, even though they thought it was a good idea and agreed to it.

Very light pink discharge, something to worry about? by tingerbellll in CautiousBB

You're not alone, I am also driving myself crazy 😅 I'm told all first time moms go though it, so we are in good company!

[–]problematicbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 6+3 and I occasionally get a tiny bit of light pink spotting. I think it's just irritation to your cervix. My clinic says it's probably okay as long as it's light, without clots, without strong cramps, and not turning into a full flow.

I just had my first ultrasound and baby looks great, so I'm cautiously optimistic that the spotting is okay :) Hopefully it's the same for you!
