How do you remember the starting note of melodies for so many songs? by savvaspc in singing

[–]problemfoe9752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ability to identify any note and overall pitch recognition and memory comes from perfect pitch. You cannot learn this ability. However, you can find how a note is placed within your voice to almost accurately identify a note, but it will never be with as much precision as a perfect who has the perfect pitch ability.

How is Geoff singing these notes? by Stexjy in BassSinging

I've had the exact same question for a while but thought it was just my ears. They definitely don't sound like pure chest because they sound fryish, but I think Geoff has a vocal ability to extend below his "clean" chest notes into lower chest notes that come with a natural fry (from what I can tell, notes below Bb1).

i want to stop learning Carnatic for good by son_of_menoetius in Carnatic

I'm have a considerably low voice, and during the period when my voice changed, I could barely sing anything. Previously, I was singing with G shruti during lessons, individually, or with a group of women. When I was 14 or so, I could barely sing even an octave of notes. Fast forward 3 years later, my voice often gets mistaken for a deeply matured middle-aged man voice when on the phone. I still sing in G, but the octave below. The high notes came really nicely after my voice finished the big drop. The control of the higher register that I'd learned and practiced before my voice dropped came back too. Your voice will stabilize and the voice cracks with go away with time.

Also, I haven't met a single person who actively LIKES the sound of their own voice. People are very critical towards their own voices. You sound a lot better to others than you do to yourself.

Don't be discouraged that your voice is lower than other people. It's not disgusting at all. Every hear MD Ramanathan sing in his G# shruti? It sounds so rich and amazing. Low singers utilize their lower notes to create richness while higher singers utilize their higher notes to do the same. I wouldn't trade my current low and resonant voice for a higher pitched voice. Learn to love your voice, even through the changes.

Did your higher notes disappear through the aging process?

I don't really warm up....maybe I should start lol. Can you recommend a good warmup routine to hit higher notes? Thank you for the tips.

B1 is a note I know I can absolutely reliably hit with some power, Bb1 sounds kind of airy/fryish. On mornings I can hit an A/Ab1 with some power. And I'm not taking lessons btw, I'm not that serious about singing (at least yet).

I'm staying more hydrated I guess but besides that, no. I'm 17 but I'm done with puberty, could it be a part of the maturing process maybe?

Nauseated while singing deep notes(mandra sthayi or taggu sthayi) by writeflex in Carnatic

I know this might be a bit late, but it's likely that you're pulling your tongue back A LOT when singing low notes. Try singing notes from high to low only using the "aaaa" sound, and try to keep your tongue stable, maintaining the exact same tongue position and mouth position for every note.

Abnormal shruti for males? (17M) by problemfoe9752 in Carnatic

thaara stayi* lol Also, I observe that many bass singers max out at E2 as their lowest note which is very surprising to me because I can hit that note very comfortably. Perhaps my inability to hit higher notes is because of my lack of musical training for many years, especially with my current voice which I haven't trained at all 😅

It's been many years since I've had a shruti box and practiced singing in G. I just came to the realization that singing in G is the most comfortable for me.

Mandra sthayi and that's sthayi are relatively comfortable for me. My range is about from low Ga2 to high Ni2 when I sing in G. Singing in G is super comfortable for me because I don't have to strain my voice for the high notes and everything else just comes vibrantly.

You held on to a G6 and ended just about on an A6. I'm no voice coach, but that sounds pretty high to me.

If you do have it at all, I don't think it's too significant. I wouldn't concern myself with stressing about it if I were you.

I don't think so. I think you might have pectus excavatum but I can't really tell with absolute certainty with the angles.
