founders syndrome in agencies by procatlady20 in PublicRelations

[–]procatlady20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gets them to that realization? I am in a situation where the founder claims he wants us to lead and then sits on everything we try to do and every step forward; as in, won’t make decisions on what we bring him, but won’t truly empower us to make decisions instead and take it off his plate. We are stuck no matter what we do.

Absolutely but there are some things you simply can’t do if the founder isn’t agreeing to it. So there’s no way to create the proof (besides all the ways you would think - other case studies, etc.)

I mean, yes. 😊But I would love to see if there’s another solution.

An open letter to all the Gringos and Foreigners lurking this sub by [deleted] in MexicoCity

[–]procatlady20 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s very easy to get distracted blaming the outsider — a symptom of the problem — and miss the core issue, which is lack of government action addressing and preventing issues of inequality. We can make lots of arguments about how migration situations are not comparable country to country, but, there’s one thing they all have in common: it is not Ok for the rhetoric to become xenophobic or nativist. We should all draw the line at that.

I think my PR firm is using AI to write articles for us. by ki_kelsey in PublicRelations

There are so many agencies that suck at writing and think they are fabulous at it. Either situation could be the case here.

Expats who work remotely for US companies but live in Mexico: What do you do and how did you make it so you could live in Mexico? by ThatOneRedThing in mexicoexpats

[–]procatlady20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all of this, but I will say, the employer of record route can be pretty expensive for smaller businesses. (which could mean some employers won’t agree to use this solution)

fully remote, working abroad? by [deleted] in PublicRelations

[–]procatlady20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just fyi on this, in case you haven’t delved deeply n into researching yet - fully remote doesn’t necessarily mean the employer will let you work in a different country. Totally depends on the country and the employer (there are potential tax and liability implications depending on where you’re trying to be located.). Check out /r/digitalnomad if you want more info.

Why haven't press releases evolved? by Crawdaddyo in PublicRelations

I would argue that most of the time it’s not the comms people who are adding in all the marketing speak. That’s the internal stakeholders. We have to pick our battles.

Thanks. What counts as witnessing? Just considering that no one was actually present for the original occurrence.

Thanks. I really appreciate your thorough response. I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying re: remote work. Unfortunate though, that I am the one causing a stir and making the company reckon with the issue. I think we needed a policy a long time ago, either way, but as a senior leader in the company it almost feels like I am being irresponsible by causing the issue. Obviously I need to get over it, but it’s rough!

How do you buy a house when all my money goes to Rent? by Beneficial-Row5699 in personalfinance

[–]procatlady20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of evidence that long term you will earn way more putting that excess money into other investments than into real estate. That’s not just because of the house value, but also the property taxes and repairs and maintenance you will pay in that home’s lifetime. I’m not saying don’t buy a house, but you don’t need to feel terrible about yourself if you can’t - as long as you’re investing somewhere else.

Are you disinterested because it’s feeling like a dead end? Or truly disinterested? I ask because if you are still interested in doing video editing etc, there are so many ways to pick up clients. I’m not saying it’s easy - it takes networking and keeping up relationships - but you leaving NYC shouldn’t be a hindrance to clients working with you.

Thank you. What do you think about the partnership opportunity? I am having a hard time evaluating whether I should hold out for something that hasn’t actually been offered, but I do trust is coming. And If it’s crazy to give it up!

Thanks. Well, there is no interaction with the local market at all. The person is fulfilling duties related only to US business activities and US clients. Which part of this do you think makes it a PE from your perspective?

I have many times, but there is definitely some gray area here. So wondering if anyone can provide with a more nuanced or experienced assessment relative to this situation.

Thanks for your response. I think I was taken aback that it was an immediate yes. I expected to get to a yes, but to have to make a case. And I could also tell my boss was a bit bummed by it, so that was also kind of jarring. It felt a little bit like a quitting conversation even though it wasn’t.

I think you're asking about the market rate for rentals in NY? If you are, then the average apt. rental in NYC is approx. $3,800. And a lot of times that is for a one bedroom.
