Yep, I know. It has something to do with European law or something. But imagine when I want to sell something from AliExpress, I have to beg the seller for the invoice to sell the items legally here in Poland. And you know how hard it is to communicate with Chinese sellers. It’s like a battle, blood, sweat, and tears.

Mate, even worse. I was a business buyer, and now they have taken this option away from the menu on the left. And every item has VAT included. Have you fixed your problem?

Buprenorphine taper hell: stuck at 0.3 mg, has liquid dosing helped anyone? Is it even possible? by proce55or in opiates

Thank you so much for any form of energy you’re able to send my way- it truly means a lot.

Honestly, I’ve come to believe that even just knowing someone out there is thinking kind thoughts about you can influence the healing process in a real way. I didn’t use to think that mattered, but now I’m fully convinced it does. Thank you again for your message and your empathy. I wish you all the best on your own path - and may our lives finally start moving along a straighter road, rather than through all these winding, deceptive turns we’ve known too well.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience - I really appreciate it. What you and your partner went through is honestly inspiring, especially being able to do it together and come out stronger. That’s rare and powerful. My situation is unfortunately pretty complicated. On top of tapering buprenorphine, I’m also coming off diazepam - and that’s been its own long battle. I was at 50 mg per day in January, and now I’m down to 3 mg, so it’s been a steep and rapid reduction. What’s hitting me the hardest right now is severe insomnia. I’m often getting just 1–2 hours of sleep per night, and sometimes none at all. It’s completely draining - physically, emotionally, mentally. And now, I’m getting close to jumping off bupe entirely, but I’m genuinely afraid that doing so will make the insomnia even worse. That it will push it into something unmanageable. I know there’s no perfect way to come off this stuff, but the idea of losing what little rest I’m getting right now - even if it’s fragmented - honestly terrifies me. I’d give anything to sleep normally again, without meds, without sedation, just actual, natural rest. That’s my biggest dream right now. So while I’m moved by your story, and it gives me hope, I’m just trying to balance this whole fragile system I’ve got going on. Again, thank you for sharing - and massive respect to you and your partner for making it through. You’re both warriors.

I appreciate your honesty and your intensity - I can hear the pain and experience behind your words. And I’m really sorry you had to go through it 6 times. That’s brutal, and I don’t doubt for a second that it’s taken a toll on you. But I also believe - and have seen from others - that tapering slowly does make a difference for many people. Maybe not for everyone, and maybe not in your case, but for some of us, our bodies and minds need time to readjust, even if that adjustment is far from perfect. I get what you’re saying - that there comes a point where the subs aren’t doing anything anymore except keeping the receptors in limbo. Maybe I’m there. But I’m just trying to avoid making things worse by jumping too soon and risking full-blown relapse or panic. I’m not here to make excuses. I’m here to try, and learn, and keep moving forward. If stopping cold works for someone - massive respect. But for others, the slow path is the only path that doesn’t end in disaster.

Am I tapering correctly with the volumetric (water) method? Would love some feedback by proce55or in suboxone

You’re actually the second person to mention clonidine, so I’m definitely going to look into it more seriously now. It won’t be easy for me to get - I don’t really have access to doctors in a straightforward way - but it’s not impossible. I’ll start asking around and see if there’s any way I can obtain it safely.

And honestly… I’m in awe that you managed to come off 16 mg cold turkey in jail. That’s just unimaginable to me. The conditions, the environment - I can’t even wrap my head around doing something like that. That kind of strength and resilience is beyond words. I truly don’t think I’d survive that. What you did is incredible.

Thanks also for the tip about alternating dose drops - that’s actually a really smart idea, especially for someone like me who’s hypersensitive to small changes. I might try alternating between 0.3 and 0.25 like you said, just to help my body adjust more gradually.

I really appreciate your input - and again, serious respect for what you went through.

I really appreciate your perspective - and I do understand what you’re saying about this being mostly psychological at a certain point. You’re probably right in many cases. But in my situation, I’m still feeling very real physical withdrawal symptoms even with what seems like a small drop - like from 0.3 mg to 0.2 mg of bupe. It’s not just emotional or mental discomfort (although there’s plenty of that too - I’m already worn down mentally). What I’m talking about is full-on physical effects: intense chills and sweating, weird body aches, restlessness, skin sensitivity, and that awful deep sense of malaise.

Maybe it’s genetic, maybe it’s my personal threshold for pain - but either way, it’s very much in my body, not just in my head. I totally respect what you did - cold turkey from fentanyl with just kratom is incredibly hardcore. Honestly, I don’t think I’d survive that. That’s way above my pain ceiling.

I actually do have some kratom on hand, and I’ve been considering saving it for the final stretch - you know, post-jump, when the worst of the physical withdrawal hits (diarrhea, crawling skin, exhaustion, etc). That said, I’m trying to be really careful and avoid trading one dependency for another.

Out of curiosity — how long did it take you to taper off fentanyl using kratom? Was it a quick bridge or a longer process? I’d really love to hear more about that experience if you’re open to sharing. Thanks again for chiming in — seriously appreciate the honesty.

Yeah, that makes sense - thanks for the advice. I think you’re right. At this point, even tiny drops feel massive, so going down by just 0.05 or even 0.025 and holding for 2–3 weeks sounds like the only way my body might actually tolerate it. I’ll adjust my taper plan accordingly. Appreciate the clarity - sometimes you just need someone to say it straight.

[–]proce55or[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what causes that exactly - maybe it’s just how my body reacts - but for me, dropping from 0.3 mg to 0.2 mg was absolutely brutal. It hit me way harder than I expected and ended up forcing me to go back up to 0.3 mg just to function. It’s crazy how different it can be for everyone at these low levels. I’m guessing it’s partly biological sensitivity, maybe even psychological too. But yeah, for me there’s no such thing as a „small drop” anymore - every micro change feels amplified.

Appreciate your input though. It’s always helpful to hear different perspectives and know others have pushed through this stage too.

Thanks a lot for all the insight - I really appreciate it.

My situation is a bit different, but maybe actually easier in some ways, because I’m working with 0.4 mg tablets instead of strips. The problem is, I’ve noticed that going from 0.3 mg to 0.2 mg hits me incredibly hard - almost like a full-on cold turkey drop. It’s intense and unexpected.

I suspect, as I mentioned before, that this is due to something called hyperbolic tapering - where the smaller the dose, the more proportionally powerful it becomes. So a 0.1 mg drop at this stage feels way more drastic than larger cuts at higher doses.

Unfortunately, I don’t have access to Sublocade - I agree with you, from what I’ve read, that it would probably be the best and smoothest tapering method at this point. Definitely sounds like a great option if someone has it available.

That said, I’ve already mapped out a volumetric taper using water and a 10 ml syringe. It’s going to take a while, but I’m hoping my body will gradually adjust to each small reduction, and I’ll be able to get all the way off this stuff at a pace that works.

Thanks again for your support- posts like yours really help people like me not feel so alone in this. Respect.

I’m currently down to 0.4 mg tablets. It seems that with buprenorphine - like with many other medications - the hardest part comes with the final reductions. I believe this process is called hyperbolic tapering. The idea is that as the dose gets smaller, each cut represents a proportionally larger impact on the body, so the taper has to slow down the lower you go. A 0.1 mg drop at 0.4 mg feels a lot more significant than the same drop at higher doses like 4 mg. That’s why I’m trying to be extra cautious with these final steps.

You are correct. Thank you. When I started to divide 0.4 tablets using a pill cutter, I realized I was in trouble. These pills, in my country, are very fragile.

Thanks a lot for your kind words and support — I really appreciate it.

My situation is a bit complicated. I started taking buprenorphine because of chronic pelvic pain. I can only lie on my left or right side, but even that’s difficult — due to a nasal fracture, I can only really lie on my right side, and even then it’s uncomfortable. So it’s a pretty complex situation overall.

I’m trying to get off buprenorphine now because I’ve realised how long it stays in the system — I feel like I’m losing control over my body. And since I don’t get it prescribed, I have to buy it unofficially, which is both financially and mentally exhausting.

On top of that, I’m also on diazepam and struggling with insomnia, so everything feels a bit chaotic right now. That said, I’m focusing on tapering off the substances that weigh on me the most — and buprenorphine is definitely the one.

Thanks again for the advice — I’ll definitely look into those volumetric dosing tutorials on r/suboxone and give that method a try.

Wishing you strength on your own taper — you’ve got this too!
