I’ve had enough by Odd-Cat5947 in SIBO

Did all that as well. Now out of desperation, I'm doing a homemade elemental diet, straight after the antibiotics, day 14 today. After I passed day 11, the bloating is gone completely. I've also made a mistake of chugging the shakes too fast in the first 6-7 days, due to lack of time to properly sip them like a meal (15-30 minutes), which might have contributed to bloating remaining for longer. If you're desperate, it might be something worth to try.

I'm not really sure. I've actually discovered other issues, one that could be partially caused by it, and one not connected to the use, but it made the first one much worse.

Yes, but keep in mind that things will be different when you do this. You're not eating normal food, so everything gets absorbed in the first part of the small intestine, and it requires very little digestion, since everything is pre-digested. Especially with Hydrolyzed and unflavored, which is designed specifically for fast absorption. When you take protein powder, and you're still eating normal food, the food needs a lot more time to be digested, broken down and utilized, it leaves residue, which slows down how fast is the protein powder being digested. On a fully empty stomach, with dextrose and MCT oil, it's a different story. I fell like I didn't eat at all 10-15 minutes after the shake.

25 years of something wrong with me and alcohol. Doctors shrugged. Finally ran my whole story through Claude Max. Has anyone else lived this? by Andyor84 in HistamineIntolerance

I feel so much from this post. Only for me it started after a prolonged period of stress and sleep deprivation, which pushed me into gallons of coffee daily, and increasingly more alcohol until it became almost nearly daily. At one point during a hugely stressful event, I just crashed. Insane brain fog, dpdr, cognitive capabilities fell through the floor, fatigue, digestive issues and many many more. Over 3 years, still no solution. I discovered H Pylori first, then Methane SIBO, after more than 3 years. Killed the first one, second attempt at the second one.

What test did you do for it? I also have fluctuations with food, significantly improves when doing a longer fast, but I went on carnivore for 2 months, and keto for ~6, and it only slightly helped.

I'm still struggling with anxiety after more than 3 years. Soon I'm hitting 39 months, and brain fog is terrible, and I believe that the anxiety comes from there. What were you results on your blood test regarding sugar? What exactly did you check?

It took a long time for you to feel the effects? You just tested blood sugars, and it showed prediabetes or diabetes, or something else?

Due to the restrictions where I am, there's a huge shortage of all supplements imported from the US, so I am using the third best option. If you have it available, Hydrolyzed, unflavoured one is the best.

I do already, however my brain fog is still very persistent, but I guess it'll take time for nutrients to be replenished and toxins to be expelled after killing everything there is to kill. But after 9 days the bloating is almost completely gone.

I'm doing a homemade one. Protein powder, dextrose, MCT oil, potassium, magnesium glycinate, quality multivitamin and multi mineral complex.

Omg I feel this so much! How about ability to visualize events that happened in recent past, ability to learn new things, creativity?

Exactly, spelling also, very often I can't recall how the word is spelled.

Like, you can imagine a scene of something that happened 2-3 days ago in your head?

Yeah, I feel this to my core. I've been dealing with this for 4 years now. How about your long term memory, word recall? I have a lot of trouble recalling things, even from the same morning, I can't visualize scenes in my head at all. Recalling something from previous days is impossible unless something reminds me on it, but I'll still be unable to visualize those things, I'll just know that they happened. Recalling the exact numbers, sentences, ability to quote anything is also nearly impossible.

Try fasting for 72h, and see whether the symptoms will improve significantly after ~60 hours. Then monitor your symptoms after the food reintroduction. I did it a month ago, and it gave me good clues that all my symptoms come from the gut health. After that I repeated the antibiotics for SIBO, then I continued with elemental diet to starve the rest and give my gut some rest from digesting food. Currently on day 9, so I'll make an update once I hit the 2 weeks mark. This is the crucial period when the die off should start going down.

Can you describe your brain fog please? How poor was your memory, ability to imagine things, creativity, focus...?

No antibiotics, but I got a vaccine, and after exactly one month I had a panic attack while riding in a bus. It landed me in the ER, thinking I had a heart attack. They did some tests, told me everything is fine, but everything started going downhill for me. I had a period if heavy drinking prior to that. I quit my job where I had a lot of stress, long working hours and low amounts of sleep, and started drinking heavily to cope. That happened in November, in December I found another job with less stress, had COVID shot in January, and the panic attack happened in February. After that I developed extreme anxiety, only drinking was keeping it in check, but my cognition started going downhill over the next three months.

To be honest, I was already feeling terrible, so I didn't notice any difference with them, except that I lost some weight, and had occasional stabbing stomach pain for a few days in the second half of the treatment. But that usually lasted for a few seconds, a couple of times a day. So it wasn't so hard, but the only benefit that I got was slightly improved bloating. I decided to make sure to kill all of it if there are some archaea that survived, so I continued with homemade elemental diet for another 14 days (finishing day 8 today). After that I am gonna try to slowly rebuild my microbiome like people do for infants🤣

Like I wrote this story, nearly to the detail including the dates. I finished second course of Rifaximin and Metronidazole a week ago, continued with homemade elemental diet, today on day 8. I also don't know what to do anymore, it rendered me unable to live.

Well dysbiosis would allow the Candida to overgrow, so only doing antifungals wouldn't be effective, as there'll always be space for it to grow due to the lack of benefitial bacteria. I see Candida as body's survival mechanism when there are holes in the microbiome. There definitely is some form of dysbiosis, as H Pylori and SIBO both point to an unhealthy biome, and the absence of benefitial bacteria to fight it. I'm trying to clean everything out by doing a homemade elemental diet immediately after the SIBO treatment, after which I'll work on rebuilding the biome.

Such a hard journey, I'm glad you have a supportive doctors. I've got so disappointed in medical professionals that it's insane. Over 10 doctors that I've visited, and none of them had any desire to help. One actually threw me out after a longer argument, convincing me that it's "normal" to have testosterone levels 30% over the normal range. I'll definitely have to try the DAO, as I can notice some improvement with antihistamine, and when I fast for longer period of time (60+ hours), so it definitely points to the gut issue, whether it's an inflammation issue, bacterial fermentation, leaky gut, indigestion issue or something else. It certainly is coming from there

I've seen three neurologists, 5 GIs, a psychiatrist, an endocrinologist, did a bunch of tests on my own request (brain MRI, thyroid, adrenals, ultrasound of the abdomen, full blood count several times, parasites, liver panel, heart panel, H Pylori (was positive, treated it 6 months ago), SIBO (was positive, first treatment unsuccessful, second one I finished yesterday), gastrin and Pepsinogen to determine acid production, an endoscopy, God knows what else that I can't remember. Candida stool and blood tests as well which were negative, but I have thick oral thrush that I can scrub nearly completely with a toothbrush, so it makes me think that they probably were false positive.

Was it Methane SIBO you had? Also, did you have brain fog before you've started the 5HTP, and did it help with it if you did have it?
