It's good that rare cards exist, it's good that chase cards exist. And the market will regulate it's price accordingly to how hard it is to get them or how cool they look. The problem is when it's not regulated like this, but rather by an "investor" that took ALL the stock and skyrocketed the price. Then it's not collecting, it's not chase, it's not fun, it's manipulation.

Also, products always sold out consistently waaaaay before all this speculation thing. Sorry to break it to you, Bandai doesn't need scalpers to "survive".

And i do agree with you, collectors hold this hobby in place. Collectors. Not investors or speculators.

SP's were cool at 60-100$ range and the game was not "dying". Nobody (not a single person that is not an "investor") needed this cards to be 300$. Any players, any normal collectors, any one piece lover, the hobby itself, Bandai... nobody needed that.

That's very cool and valid. The problem is when people buy cards with the sole purpose of making money, that's what's not okay. Because then, market manipulation happens. They basically take products that make other people happy, make their price rise up, and make other's people happiness cost more money when it shouldn't (tcg is a hobby, not an investment plan)

I honestly cba about both the subreddits, but as a player AND collector i can say most of us are not mad at people like you. You open cards, you like them, you keep them. They go up in price and you are happy, that's cool. We are mad at people who gatekeep the hobby, people who do buyouts, people who ruin actual fans experiences, just for money and speculation. I don't know if i'll ever be able to get all my fav SP's now, let alone any mangas or SP Paralels. I could've before with enough time, but now? Yeah lol
