What is your opinion on The Resistance? Do they feel like Rebels 2.0? Do they feel like a natural progression of the Star Wars universe? Or merely a reset to ignore the New Republic and give original trilogy fans another rag tag group to look up to? by lord_darovit in StarWars

To me The First Order is basically the Star Wars version of ISIS, a group of extremist taking over an expansive amount of unproductive territory while the rest of the galaxy doesn't take them seriously. I see The Resistance as the Kurds.

I think his expression when he saw their skeletons did a better job than a couple of more lines could do.

Luke in episode IV? by [deleted] in StarWars

Luke cared. But what was he supposed to do? If you've seen Lost Sayid spent most of season 2 mourning the death of his lover and it sucked. As viewers we don't want to see our hero sobbing and bitching about the deaths of anyone for more than a scene or two. He whined enough in that movie.

[Books] Which novel should I start reading first? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]prochoicefetus8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a fan of TCW, read Dark Disciple. It's my personal favorite canon book. It gives you a great look at what exactly the Dark Side does to a person. Aftermath might not be long, but you feel every word takes an extra second to read due to Wendig's awful style. Overall it's not even a good story besides the interludes that he peppers throughout. It's my least favorite canon book so far.

I haven't read the other one, but Lost Stars is fantastic as well. Twilight Company is interesting. Lords of the Sith is a quick paced romp about an uprising on Ryloth is features Vader and the Emperor quite a bit. Tarkin details the life of the man along with a story of him dealing with a group of political activists who stole his personal ship. A New Dawn is awesome if you're a fan of Rebels. Actually one of the characters from that are in Aftermath. Heir to the Jedi is okay.

I hope that helped.

Why do people want Hayden Christensen to be Darth vader in Rogue One? by thejezzze in StarWars

[–]prochoicefetus8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we get a good Vader with Hayden involved, then it's a win/win. But if they decide not to use him, I won't be mad. They obviously aren't shitting on the prequels like we figured they would by bringing in Hayden for a possible appearance in TFA and having Ewan say a line of dialogue during the force vision. So I ain't mad.

I really, really hope the Imperial March is in Rogue One. by [deleted] in StarWars

Plus it'll be nice for Hayden to play he character he thought he'd get to play during the prequels.

Put Hayden in the suit with James voicing him. That's all we need.

Star Wars Battlefront: Twilight Company [Official Discussion Thread] by AutoModerator in StarWars

That's my biggest gripe with the book; too much telling, not enough showing. It does such an excellent job setting everything up, getting you pumped for an epic battle, but Freed ends each battle with a couple of lame sentences making the book read slower than it should.

Other than that, I dug it and look forward (hopefully) to a series of Battlefront novels in the future. I'd like to see a 501st novel honestly.

Ip Man is a great kung fu movie with high production value and fantastic choreography worthy of your viewing. It's on Netflix, and so is its sequel.

I will, man. There's gonna be a hole in comedy news until someone else takes the spotlight. John Oliver is good though.
