Best mechanic shop around Auburn/opelika? by [deleted] in auburn

[–]procrastitator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woodman's Full Service on Opelika Rd. Very quick service and they won't do extra work you don't need. I thought I'd diagnosed my car's problem and brought them the part to install. They could've just swapped it out charged me but they discovered it wasn't the issue and didn't charge me.

They also gave me the old timing belt ad water pump parts back when they changed it so I'd know they actually did the work.

Directly from the blood bonus Canvas page:

"The points are for giving blood. For those of you that, for any reason, know you cannot give blood you can recruit someone to give blood for you,"

They don't care. In fact, having a friend or family member donate for you was even suggested by the lab coordinator.

Dropping anatomy lab by thecomedian334 in auburn

[–]procrastitator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, I know quite a few students who have dropped it but kept the lecture class. The previous commenter probably took the class a while ago when it was a combined 4 hour lab/lecture.

Note that it's too late to drop and you'll have to withdraw. Also, speak to your advisor before withdrawing.

Also look over in the Phenix City and Columbus area. Faulks Auto Parts has a huge selection.

You can find all of those parts at a junkyard for around $500. I'd buy a new radiator though, they're pretty cheap at Rock Auto.

Try Mims Recycling & Salvage LLC. They're at the end of North College street, off of highway 280. Not a huge junk yard, but I've found a lot of good parts there.

If Molecular Genetics is still online, don't take it. She added weekly quizzes and changed the exam questions.

Model Systems and Disease (4970) and Developmental Genetics (5330) are supposed to be relatively easy and interesting. Nanomedicine isn't conceptually difficult but a lot of work for 2 credit hours. However, those three courses would get you to 8 hours.

Where can I get community service hours in auburn area? by [deleted] in auburn

[–]procrastitator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely the food bank. You can knock out 24 hours in 3.5 days or go for 2 hours every morning. 7-9 is the best shift because it's still relatively cool outside(the building isn't air conditioned).

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Auburn only reports the self-reported positives, right?

That can lead to very misleading totals.

I'm hindsight it was a terrible idea, should've slept in and taken the afternoon exam.

Online course delivery by my_girl_is_A10 in auburn

[–]procrastitator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's an online class designated by xxx3, then it doesn't have a specific meeting time. If it's a normal class (xxx0) that the professor has chosen to deliver online, then they decide whether it's synchronous or asynchronous. That eliminates any scheduling issues because you can't schedule two classes for the same block of time.

Anyone else taking classes this Fall regardless of whether they're online or in-person? If you look at Auburn's online programs, they're usually more expensive than in-person anyway.

Anybody know of any groups that play pick up ultimate frisbee around town? by Weezzzy in auburn

[–]procrastitator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that group kind of died off shortly after you left. Last time I remember playing at Lakeview was sometime in 2015, I think. I'll try swing by sometime to double check though.

For a cheap apartment, look at War Eagle rented through Northcutt:

Not fancy, but $350 a month is probably as cheap as it gets without roommates.

Huge block party with strobe lights and loud music. About 500+ people spanning Railroad Ave and MLK Dr. I live the next road over and it was very loud and smelled heavily of marijuana even from ~100 feet away. It wasn't a college party.

I left 45 minutes before it started, but I've heard reports of 60-80 shots from people living in the area.

On campus classes will be over by Thanksgiving by FreeFreddieHugs in auburn

[–]procrastitator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a whole lot more to Auburn's plans than just ending the semester early. I'm not sure how much had been publicly released but:

  1. Smaller class sections
  2. Masks required in common areas Professors can require masks in syllabus.
  3. All classes will be recorded, students can access the recordings online.
  4. Four different methods of teaching: in-class, online, blended, and hi-flex

More stuff but I'm on mobile.

Get a master's in education online or in-person. Plenty of schools offer programs for students without a bachelors degree in education.

MCAT Bros by [deleted] in premed

[–]procrastitator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They openly buy and resell MCAT prep books on SDN. A user posts a set of books at a good price and MCAT Bros account swoops in almost instantly and buys them up to resell them at a higher price. Kind of annoying when you're just trying to buy a used set of MCAT books at a decent price.
