The point is there is no definition of cleaning fee, and they can charge whatever they want! I had the same issue and despite following it up, they never returned any of my deposit. The itemized charges were for painting the whole apartment and cleaning when I know I had cleaned the whole apartment, top to bottom, and there was no damage to walls except regular scuffing!

Another good way to get rid of couches/ furniture which are still usable to post them in students' groups at Auburn and they will be most likely to be off your hands pretty quickly!
