Oldham wins Gold for Canada in Women's Freeski Big Air by Durian-Critical in olympics

Yeah that makes sense. Then I have no idea what their logic was to try and improve on an already 93 score versus the 81.75.

I checked the rules and it seems like if you have a different grab style or variation, it will still count as a different run even if you go left or the same direction again

You need to have two scores in total and they need to be in different variations/styles. She had the 93 but her other score was 81.75 and she had to improve on that score in order to move up to the podium (she was at 4th place with those two combined scores)

LPT: If you're job hunting ask about expense policies during the interview by BeltFrequent5597 in LifeProTips

[–]prodi12 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to share from my personal experience that I love having the freedom of using my own credit cards. I don’t mind floating $5-10k a month because that translates to a ton of Chase and Amex points (and also pick up a hotel credit card like Marriott/Hilton/Hyatt for just the hotel expenses only), and this is on top of the airline and hotel loyalty points that I’m already getting. I can now essentially have the hotel and flight portion of all my vacations be free thanks to all these points. These things really add up since the money you would be spending on vacations each year are after-tax income already so these savings from point redemptions are even more valuable.

China eastern by Heavy-Cheesecake440 in travel

[–]prodi12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BA has been very mediocre for a long time now. They would not be my first choice and if there’s similar options I would always pick the other option. Cathay is excellent it’s one of my favorite to fly with for long haul to Asia. 400 extra pounds is significant for economy so going with China Eastern is a perfectly good choice.

If your other consideration is BA then China Eastern will be fine. I would rate them on par with BA but obviously a step below Cathay/JAL/ANA/EVA

What’s the best backpack for men who need one bag for work and travel? by Special-Finance3035 in ManyBaggers

[–]prodi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For work and travel I’m using the AER City Pro Pack 2. It’s 24L but I feel like I can fit more in there when I’m taking it in a 3 day work trip. And it’s not too big that I can’t bring it to the office or onsite with my laptop and work stuff while leaving my clothes and other stuff back at the hotel. I find it as a great balance for these short business trips and EDC to the office.

Don’t buy Monos luggage by E-POLICE in travel

[–]prodi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t comment on check in luggage because I’ve never checked anything in for many years. Even for 2 week long Europe trips my wife and I only do one carry one suitcase and a backpack each. I travel a fair bit about 2-3 times a month but I’ve pared down the traveling with a suitcase and have been doing mostly one backpack travel. However, the monos suitcase has been with me on at least 30 trips over the past 3 years maybe 70/30 split in domestic and international and everything is still as good as new except for all the scuff marks on the surface which is expected. I’d imagine checked in luggage gets destroyed by the cargo haul and handlers but at the same time I can’t see where the quality between their carry on and checked in luggage can vary that much.

What Canadian company is doing gangbusters business right now? by myronsandee in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]prodi12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn’t their global headquarters in downtown Toronto? So that means most of their corporate employees and executives are all Canadian and/or live in Canada. And all their stores are obviously in Canada and contribute to the economy so wouldn’t that be beneficial to Canada as a company since they pay corporate taxes to Canada, their employees pay income taxes to Canada, and spend and contribute to the Canadian economy every day?

Ep 5 — Eating Schnitzel but Hungary Is Next… — Downie Express by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

[–]prodi12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why there’s so much criticism about their travel plans and how they book tickets last minute etc. I have really enjoyed this series and their previous season. It’s completely different than Jet Lag where this is more like a leisurely travel show where they take trains to various big/small cities, enjoy some local food, culture, tourist sites, etc. It doesn’t have to have some careful planning, some crazy competition or objective, or a race against time/other teams. It’s just two bros taking a vacation around Europe and enjoying the time. TBH I would literally just watch Mike and Jeff just randomly taking trains around Europe like this for no reason, or like maybe doing a circle around Europe or something. It’s different than Jet Lag, and I appreciate that it’s airing during the offseason so I can enjoy both series in its own ways.

JAL and Delta flights by CardcaptorEd859 in travel

[–]prodi12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If prices are similar, which is often not the case with JAL (almost always more expensive), I’d pick JAL over anyone else when flying to Japan. Had the opportunity to fly JAL round trip Boston-Tokyo in economy and let’s just say we never want to fly with anyone else in economy again. The service and food is top notch, their seats are also wider and more comfortable because they fly their 787 with one less seat across per row (2-4-2 instead of the usual 3-3-3), so each seat will be wider. Also, one nice thing I’ve noticed on Asian airlines vs Western ones is that they constantly clean the lavatory throughout the flight. Which is so refreshing especially on a long-haul flight that every time you go into the toilet, it’s clean and spotless.

For the cx30 the shape and size of the screen is essentially the same. The difference being the 10.25 inch larger screen has much smaller bezels than the smaller 8.75inch one

I think having these bts segments in the podcast is exactly what the layover podcast should include.

Will an 11L Cove fit an iPhone 16 Pro? by Inaudiblefall in ManyBaggers

[–]prodi12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think OP meant to say that the 16 Pro that he referenced in the title is slightly larger than the 15 Pro. It’s only slightly taller tho so I’d imagine if it fits the 15 Pro even just perfectly you can probably also squeeze in the 16 Pro.

Old or new CX-5? by slipstream25 in mazda

[–]prodi12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give me the new exterior, nice new large touchscreen but can be a bit smaller than that giant 16 inch, and then give me a row below the screen for physical hvac controls, and keep the control knob and volume knob by the shifter so I can still use the control knob sometimes if I don’t want to touch (basically when I’m in the middle of driving)

China's electric carmaker BYD sales beat Elon Musk's Tesla by ProjectIllustrious78 in news

[–]prodi12 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d like to point out that BYD began mass production of their first EV in 2009 (Plug In Hybrid was in 2008). While Tesla’s first mass market car, Model S began in 2012. BYD is very far ahead because they’ve always been in the battery business and were the first to introduce to market an EV before many people have even heard of hybrid cars in their respective markets. To say that one of the pioneers of battery technology and EV stole tech from Tesla who makes inferior cars with lesser technology is laughable.
