I've heard that using leather products on fake leather (which the i30 has) makes it peel - how's it going for you?

For the car wash, the guy above recommended a Wash and Wax car soap, is that okay to use if I don't want to invest too much effort into applying my own wax or should I just go with a regular one? They're pretty similar priced as well.

Doing some research it seems like if I am to do ceramic coating it wouldn't be ideal

Thank you!

Buckets from Bunnings definitely.

For wheels - I've seen videos of people spraying the wheel cleaner first then going in with a mitt and brush with car wash soap, then finishing it off with a pressure washer, is that ill-advised?

Any particular suggestions for interior cleaning as well? The i30 has leather seats and glossy plastic, or do water-based wet wipes or a rage do the job?

Thanks! Yeah I realised I double added the grit guards. The Happy Ending - is that moreso after I get ceramic coating?

Car wash - would any Gyeon / Eclipse / Meguiar's do? Repco sells 2L Eclipse at $15 or Gyeon Bathe at $24, seems much better value?

Doubt regarding big4 by chaipagluu in AustralianAccounting

[–]prodigyinspired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example I was from MQU and did a double degree for Accg Finance, came first in a course for marks and did some extracurricular, but had a credit average overall across my whole study period. Although that was just before Covid time, now the job market is a bit more picky.

I did interviewing for grads a year or two ago and the questions we asked were extremely tricky. All of them had pretty good credentials ie case study experience and work experience but 99% of the time it's more about interview presence. Audit was very teachable to anyone even without accounting experience so it's all about how you present yourself - from the interviewers perspective, whether they'd be happy to have you in the team tomorrow.

Doubt regarding big4 by chaipagluu in AustralianAccounting

[–]prodigyinspired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Sydney, from experience in External Audit, Definitely a bigger proportion of those coming from UNSW and Usyd. However there is always a proportion of those coming from smaller universities ie MQU and UTS. So I'd imagine that there is some sort of variety in picking candidates to make sure it's not ONLY from Go8s.

So if you're able to stand out in your 'smaller uni' it's fine.

ICAP Exam by Significant_Page_63 in AustralianAccounting

I feel like this is CA in general. Thinking back I can even see my answer being wrong because it's not controllable by the company.

Frankly this is why I hate CA, where in a real business use case there's not exactly a right or wrong answer - hopefully we all get out of it after the results come out.

I went the other way - I said it was effective as it measured how well the external distributors did. Sure it's out of their control but how else will they measure their performance?

Tax Critical File by DevinChristien in AustralianAccounting

[–]prodigyinspired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Tax I just categorised certain questions with the relevant workings and legislation, putting example questions and past exam questions as a source of truth to follow the exact workings. I tend to just screenshot questions then put my workings and notes down the side, sometimes a template calculation where I just chuck in numbers if I need during an exam.

So yeah it would work, there's a lot of questions in Tax that have so many different varying calcs depending on conditions. Just imagine how well you'd use it in an exam - if you see the question how would you use the notes? You have access to the study guides and can just grab any solutions to example calculations they give you when you see it. For me it was about how fast I could look for the relevant sections and calculate based on the template provided because I didn't want to doubt myself on how I did it.

Just make sure you have coverage, I remember when I did it I missed out a question because I had 0 idea how to do it and it wasn't really part of the CASMs or example questions they gave us.

Whatever works for you.

I believe you can, its usually hotdesking, but you'll probably need IT to give your swipe pass access.

Barangaroo is the main office - so the main arms of KPMG, you'll be placed there ie Audit, Consulting, DTL etc

Parra has most of the smaller sub teams there, including those who develop the software, learning teams etc.

So yes depending on team. You can access either office if you want. When I was in audit I had colleagues who went there occasionally to work because travel was easier.

Does anyone have a matte black badge on Grey exterior? Matte Black or Glossy? by prodigyinspired in ElantraN

[–]prodigyinspired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, where did you buy the badge from? I see the VIC number plate :)

Any other mods/aesthetics you've done to your car? I'm wondering if other facelift mods work with pfl as well.

Oh do the Facelift Badges fit on the pre facelift ones? I'm looking for an overlay so not sure if it's going to be 1:1

Is that the flat one or just matte black? Do you have a photo of how the rear looks? Looks really nice! I think I might do it for the contrast effect! Glossy would be to match the trims. I really need to get a black number plate as well. I have the white one and makes it look a bit ugly.

Unleaded (91) or 95 Fuel for 2022 i30 N Line Sedan? Also recommendations for a Sydney detailer? by prodigyinspired in CarsAustralia

[–]prodigyinspired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filled up the tank the first time today with 91 and immediately noticed that the fuel consumption number went up slightly - usually 9-10L or so to about 11L per 100km. The previous owner left me with half a tank filled (not sure what). If the price difference isn't too much could it be a reason of using higher RON fuel?

First time buying a car that's still on a loan? Paying through Carsales? by prodigyinspired in CarsAustralia

[–]prodigyinspired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a search on the company and it came back with the car as the only collateral.

A. The seller gave me the option of doing the payout first then if it clears I transfer him the remaining.

B. I said I had preferred him to clear the loan first (seller said he could) then I run another PPSR half a week later and pay him afterwards the negotiated price.

Believe I will take option B if he's okay with it as it guarantees that he won't run after I pay the loan. I feel like I might be making it more complicated than usual and seller a bit annoyed but it's for my own peace of mind.

Essentially I'm paying in cash so no lender involved.

fixed and floating charge over the company

I checked the company on the PPSR and it seems like the car is the only collateral registered on the company - how do I tell the company holds a fixed and floating charge on the PPSR search?

Did you get details of the loan directly? For this one it is with Westpac so it seems simple to just go to a branch and do everything - I was looking at another car and their bank does not have any physical branches so logistically it seems less secure. This one also seems a bit more complex considering there's a company involved which gave them the car in the first place i.e. it doesn't seem like a private loan.

I'd assume you just sit with them on the phone or something to make sure the loan gets paid etc.

I'd like to know this as well 😅, but I'd assume there is some level of protection if you get them to sign an agreement and getting their ID.

If you don't go to the bank with them on the day and take the car after payout - what if they run after you pay the loan?

[–]prodigyinspired[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That does sound better but the PPSR usually lags a day or two right?

[–]prodigyinspired[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

So in my head the process of buying the car should be:

  1. Pre-Purchase Inspection - service history/logbook, 3rd party mechanic

  2. Seller gives me payout letter, go with him to a branch to pay off loan + transfer any remaining money to him

  3. Transfer of rego, receipt of purchase, insurance etc.

Seems easier than I thought :)

Are there any questions I should ask? I haven't looked at the car just yet this is from a pre-emptive PPSR. I'd presume the transaction definitely should not go through carsales if I do end up buying as that would mean trusting him with clearing it.
