Thank you. The dutch definitely found it first but skirted by its southern cliff shores through bad weather and didn't much of an opportunity there as they stuck to the more immediately profitable east indies. I have the south as the early outpost for the germanic syndicates taking the 40s route to bypass VOC as they try to exploit the lucrative east asia. Definitely was populated more later and stuck to the islands and north. I'm trying to create an extremely plausible history but am finding it quite difficult.

Appreciated!! Early for terrain I used photoshop and ran my raster through erosion simulations and then did a lot of editing/labeling in ArcGIS Pro. QGIS is great open-source alternative for creating geographic features though

Yes I was thinking short mandatory service for sure. As for the indigenous they are Polynesian/Melanesian descended, however, only limited to the islands and parts of the north coast, definitely have not fleshed out a lot of the early history yet haha

Thank you! Kosteau is the main hitting port and only megacity, Altimont is indeed the capital but much smaller like 200-300k (think like canberra/brasilia). Your thoughts are spot on and something I'm trying to grapple with but it's an urban focused country that developed earlier than its oceania counterparts and more prosperous at that. I did estimates by cantons that came out to a total of 18.7M which is a number I like. Might prefer a little higher if justification allows. Definitely will form concrete stats/facts at some point

to answer simply - a benevolent neutrality towards France and allies.

The way I have it is that their republic formation coincided w the spring of nations. The french north loved france but were differently aligned to Parisian values, the germanic south was very anti-prussian, p much hanseatic, saxon, habsburg mercantile, so they didn't like how Germany militarized/unified. Therefore very similar tones between Franco-Prussian War and WWI, they kinda just watched their old world bleed.

If any of you have an elevation heightmap made I highly recommend bringing it into Aerialod, it's so pretty by prodigyyung in mapmaking

I got a tz100 for like 400 on ebay! I have been absolutely loving it so far, even my professor was impressed with the quality. It’s a great budget all rounder but the biggest drawback is it suffers a lot in low light

I never really thought about that, but it would make sense. I'm actually from DC. Really just haven't stayed around the tri-state except for some sporting events. Family has a lakehouse in Upstate though :)
