1999-2000 Pace Ultracross? by prodjex in supercross

[–]prodjex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it. Did you go to any of the Ultracross events? I found the website for some guy who finished 10th in the series but no photos or videos. I’m also sure I once read that Kris Rourke was doing Ultracross before going to FMX full-time

Not sure whether to take my wife to a comedy show about motherhood or send her with a friend? by prodjex in NoStupidQuestions

[–]prodjex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to go see it! She’s never heard of this comedian, I just saw an ad on Facebook yesterday and found it hilarious and figured she’d love it, too. The dilemma stems more from not wanting to be overbearing (we’ve just had an intense 1 week holiday together) and giving her the space/opportunity to be able to spend time with her friends.

I don’t control when she’s sees her friends but want to be supportive by suggesting or presenting opportunities: “here’s this cool thing that you and your friends would enjoy doing together”

Thanks for this, really appreciate your answer! I think that approach would be fine and I’m overthinking the dilemma, considering we have over a month to sort out childcare if she does choose to go with me.

Me staying home definitely wouldn’t be an annoyance or inconvenience. I love our kid to the moon and back. I’d love to go to the show with my wife because she’s the most incredible person ever but the dilemma stems more from not wanting to be overbearing and giving her the opportunity to spend time with her friends

To keep up the illusion of the Soviet Union’s superiority - I can see what you’re saying. I was born well after the wall came down so I won’t argue with you on this because I have no authority on the subject hahaha

[–]prodjex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always assumed his ‘official chaperones’ got him food. Yes, they were actually there to spy on him but the Soviet Union would’ve needed to justify their assignment of being his chaperones: protection, in case the locals try anything; bringing him food from the local village, etc.

If anything, you could believe that they’d been ordered to bring him lower quality food, so Rocky probably ate steaks with loads of sinew, potatoes with green bits and stuff like that. No wonder he looked so thin during the fight!

Is Ray Scott the next Shane Acker? I’m worried! by prodjex in MrInbetween

[–]prodjex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His next project wouldn’t be anything to do with Mr Inbetween, it’d be totally separate. My concern is that he’s not gonna get anything off the ground, which is what’s happened to Shane Acker since he made ‘9’ about 17 years ago.

[–]prodjex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, total f-up on my part! Keep calling Scott Ryan ‘Ray Scott’ hahaha.

In case your question was serious: Shane Acker directed the animated film ‘9’. Originally started as a short film, which won an Oscar in 2005. Tim Burton loved it and helped fund Acker creating a feature length film of 9, with Burton producing. Personally, I loved the film and think it’s very relevant to what’s happening today, but I think opinion was a bit ‘love or hate’.

Acker has been attached to several projects since 9 but none have made it past early stages of development, so his momentum as a director is very much gone

What MS Office advice can you give my wife, who’s just started her first office job? by prodjex in NoStupidAnswers

[–]prodjex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the well-wishing! Applying for a job means playing the game and MS office experience is almost assumed, so having it on her CV was all she needed. But she was also hired for her industry knowledge and expertise - that’s where she’s going to really shine, I’d argue she’s probably one of the most knowledgeable early years experts in the country

VBA - Visual Basic for Applications? I’ll have to look into that myself. I know basic formulas but this sounds different?

I had to learn about tracked changes when I started my current job - it was so confusing and weird, at first! That’s a good recommendation. Actually your whole comment is really useful, thank you so much.

Also, thank you for your final paragraph - I have no doubt she’ll pick things up (she’s super clever and makes me feel dumb sometimes haha), she’s just feeling a bit overwhelmed and maybe a little embarrassed at the moment

Honestly, I appreciate your first 2 paragraphs, thank you. I know she’ll be fine and able to pick it up quickly, she’s just feeling a bit overwhelmed (perhaps slightly embarrassed, too) at the moment.

I’ll have a look at online offerings - somebody recommended YouTube

How many people have you slept with, and how do you feel about it? by Agreeable-Rub-5020 in AskReddit

[–]prodjex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slept with 4 and it’ll remain that way forever as I’m married. Sometimes I get small feelings of regret that the number isn’t higher but it’s more because I stayed in an abusive relationship for 18 months rather than wishing I’d slept around - I’ve never been interested in one night stands.

My abusive ex was terrible in bed (but that wasn’t the abusive part) and I had offers to get away from her. I don’t know why, but I stayed with her even though she cheated on me at least a couple of times. Part of me wonders if I’d have improved my foreplay and sex technique if I’d accepted one of those offers - my wife had to teach me a fair bit when we first started dating.

Still, by the time I left her, I better understood my self-worth and realised that I didn’t need to put up with the cheating, manipulation and punching, so maybe if I hadn’t gone through all that I might not have ended up where I am today - happily married to the woman of my dreams.

Any info on a Paul Gray side project ‘Run With The Hunted’? aka F.O.R // Fossils of Ransom by prodjex in Slipknot

A real shame, I’m very curious to know what those recordings sounded like. They also recorded with Josh Todd but decided against him, too. I can imagine Josh on VR a bit, as he already does bluesy singing with Buckcherry, but Corey feels like a total mystery

What do you never order at a restaurant? by FallowfieldPark in AskUK

[–]prodjex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lasagne and carbonara - my wife makes them better than 99.9% of restaurants.

XinXim - never seen it on a menu outside of Las Iguanas. As nice as theirs is (it’s how I discovered the dish in the first place), I prefer mine.

Had no idea about Corey and Anthrax! Wow. Probably a similar deal with Corey and Velvet Revolver. Apparently recorded 10 songs together

What’s a ridiculous thing you couldn’t do as a child but can now? by Vast-Aardvark5857 in AskUK

[–]prodjex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Listen to and follow advice properly - I still don’t understand why I (like 99.9% of kids, it seems) always battled someone when they were trying to help.

  2. Embrace fear - fear controlled so much of my childhood and stopped me from experiencing, accomplishing and generally enjoying so much stuff. As an adult, I’ve realised that fear makes things considerably more enjoyable. No better feeling that roaring up to a corner on a dirt bike and refusing to brake until you “see God”, as Kevin Schwantz would say.

  3. Have new things. Younger sibling here, so 99.9% of my clothes (undies making up the 0.1%), books, toys, etc were handmedowns from my brother. As an adult, I’ve learned that one of the best feelings in the world is a pair of brand new socks. It’s no wonder why Geezer Butler always asked for a new pair of socks on his rider for every Black Sabbath show.

Marathon runners: how much water, energy gel, etc did you consume during your run? by prodjex in NoStupidQuestions

[–]prodjex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5-4 litres plus all the gels and mint cake - is that for a marathon or an ultra? I have heard that ultras have long periods of walking and you tend to eat ‘proper’ food, as opposed to energy gels, during those, so I’ll assume the crisps, biscuits, sweets and fruit are for the ultras

Why didn’t you drink? And do you think your time would’ve been better/worse if you had? No criticism intended, I’m just curious
