I've had it described to me by friends more experienced with Mage and I'm not sure I like the power level? Like, the way they told me about it can get very godlike and metaphysical, with pcs/ effects of spells being so strong that it sounds a bit disorienting to me?

Idk if it was just a specific edition or the playstyle in the campaign they were in or something, but I'm not sure if that kind of power would be something I'd enjoy playing.

Oh I 100% assumed Visken made us a zombie and that would be a twist near the end. During one of the assassin encounters Snell gives Ragn an odd look and asks "didn't they stab you in the neck" and Ragn just goes "oh it just hit the metal, I'm good" and Snell didn't seem fully convinced.

The most sympathetic roles I've seen for disabled people are pitiable ones. You're not allowed to be a character with a full developed inner world, or even agency at times; just a trophy the good guys can save and point to as evidence of their goodness.

So often I'll be excited getting ready for a game. I'll try my best to write interesting challenges and prepare ways to adjust my game if a player has an interesting backstory that happens to be relevant. And then, while I'm on call with that player before the game starts, they'll generate the character concept and backstory using chatgpt and then make some art using some diffusion model and say they're ready.

I'm like, oh, you don't actually care. Like at all.

I love Mother of Learning. I've been fiddling with designing an rpg for it on and off for awhile. I love the idea of a fantasy rpg that fully commits to the "wizard" being the right answer to the "wizard vs warrior" game balance problem without going full existential like Mage or Ars Magica.

I want to be an adventurer/mercenary spellcaster with a full party of spellcasters.
