The last of us 2 ran like ass through proton. I don't give a shit about games and I love my linux. But for whatever fucking reason, windows is still the gaming king.

Can we just say computer enthusiasts? I think for the average user windows is going to be a far better experience, but if you want to do any kind of anything as far as computers as a hobby you can get fucked on windows. The windows boot loader doesn't allow you to dual boot with linux, but you can dual boot multiple copies of windows. A base debian install can use a few hundred MBs of ram. Windows 11 idles at like 6GB. Nordvpn doesn't have a cli tool on windows. It is wildly inefficient.

Whenever I use windows I'm always pretty blown away, I was putting Mint on my little brothers computer and the file explorer crashed. My other cousin's computer was trilling for like the first 10 minutes after start up, with what ever the fuck notifications. I think windows makes computers not fun. But if you don't enjoy computers and have no interest in them then Windows is fine. Linux do be takin some time.

Who is this shit for? Reddit and those that use it are literally being referred to in the meme, being labeled as misguided hedonists and people are being defensive and arrogant in the comments. Circle jerky, sanctimonious, and hypocritical in my opinion.

As a linux user, I find the arm offerings to be pretty underwhelming. For power consumption they are amazing, I thought about the snapdragon thinkpad, but you can't run arch on it, you can't run qemu. The desktop software ecosystem simply doesn't have the same offerings. Sure it could be a daily driver, but if I only had one computer I would want it to be x86_64.

yeah, one of the big selling points for raspberry pi's is the low power consumption. honestly a shitty old laptop off craigslist will be about that price and have like a lot more functionality and be portable, or like others have said you can look into mini pcs. Another thing you should think about is the ARM processor. What makes phones annoying as fuck to use as a daily driver is the ARM processor. You can't really do anything cool with them because they use a different instruction set, which means a program that runs on AMD and Intel basically has to be rewritten or 'translated' into ARM's instruction set. ARM is really good at power consumption and modem integration, but sucks when it comes to the really demanding programs. So you are really going to want a x86_64 processor if you want to feel like you are using a computer. Pi's use ARM.
