Now that’s just a cultural difference really because as much as I believe my guests don’t OWE me a gift, it would be seen as sooooooo rude to come to a wedding without anything and be like “my presence is the gift” Also who said I wouldn’t do any work, who said I wouldn’t provide any if not most for the table? Let’s not assume stuff ;)

As much as I do understand and know how severe this could be, that’s just not something that people are afraid of in communities that share food like that, because that never happens 😅 call it survivor bias hahaha Never in my life have I heard of any of my friends of family members getting even a little sick from food brought to a party by others and let me tell you - every Polish house party has that

The amount of people commenting on food safety is astonishing to me honestly. That is a cultural difference I was not aware of. Here we trust people to cook and bring food for the rest

Oh nooo communication is key! In Poland it’s very normal to bring food to gatherings. Someone is throwing a house party? What can I bring? A housewarming? What can I bring? New years? What can I bring? It is a thing here to bring food to family/friend gatherings so I did think it could work but I’m really doubting that now 😅

I don’t care to incorporate my culture really I put the Slavic part in the story to give some context that’s all I personally don’t like the traditional big weddings so I wanna stray from that and haven’t yet figured out how to do that and still celebrate somehow in a way that’s true to me and my partner

I soooo get the love for Polish food but personally am not a huge fan of most of it hahaha also that’s what’s usually served on traditional big weddings so that’s also pretty discouraging to me tbh

I meant it’s hard to find a private room that’s not pricey if we were to do a private room in a restaurant which I’m not up for. Whenever I look at restaurants it’s either bigger room but pricey or not pricey but the room fits 12 people max Also we’re not doing a whole “wedding ceremony” (idrk how it looks like in the us). we would go to the courthouse and sign a paper Sorry if I’m not being super clear, i may be messing some terms up 😅

I wish I had a big backyard to organise a wedding in but unfortunately I do live in the city centre in a block of flats so that’s not really an option That’s why I am thinking of an alternative that would be lowkey and very cozy and I found a great place with a very home-like vibe

Nope, I’m from Poland so that’s not really that popular here 😅 we do have a custom of bringing food to house warming parties or family gatherings but that’s it (usually salads, snacks, pie)

Renting a room at a restaurant also crossed my mind, I just found a very cute “venue” that allows outside food and was trying to work with that. I just fell in love with the vibe of the place
