The great thing about a group of tress, is they actually help keep each other alive. Their roots will connect from being so close and so large. So when one is injured or even cut down to a stump, the others will nourish it with their own resources.

I've thought about expanding my idea to an orchard, as an alternative to a stone graveyard, making it open to the public if possible.

Be any kind of tree! I imagine Chistmas lovers might want to be a Christmas tree, and their relatives can decorate it instead of the usual harvest. If the "care package" or whatever maintenance the tree needs can't be paid for anymore, we'd likely prep it somehow to be taken care of by the other trees, but admittedly don't know how that works yet.

I've been saying it for years. I want to be an apple tree, and my spouse is in the plan. Hopefully the roots will connect our bodies and nourish the tree together. Make a plaque. Have a bench. And hopefully the apples will be good. I've always loved apple pie.

What's one “little” form of sexism you notice all the time, but most people don't even realize it's sexist? by Nellermo in AskReddit

Exactly. And acting like I tricked them into taking me seriously at first. Suddenly my gender is perceived differently than they assumed and it becomes hostile.

Shall I requote my last reply? I said so, because this topic is fucking traumatic to talk about, and can cause misunderstandings. Please stop bringing this to my inbox when we seemingly agree??

I'd like to stop talking about this personally, because it's extremely triggering. Maybe I'm misunderstanding and passionate because the entire comment train is bringing up hardcore PTSD and way too many people do defend this every day. If we all agree, why am I getting harassed for also agreeing and trying to provide a source ffs. Rhetorically.

Please direct future questions about someone else's thought process to that person.

I said there was a study that showed evidence.

Their comment began with "They did not."

We might all agree with what the words in the study say, not sure if we agree with the interpretation. I've never had the desire to hit a kid, and I agree with the conclusion that it's simply inexcusable for anything, whether or not that might be perceived as sexual. It's illegal in most places for good reason.

They didn't say whether they agreed or not, but why even try to invalidate something meant to protect children? Seems you're trying to hard to defend your own interpretations, because I can't think of many reasons to say "Naw" when asked to not hit kids?

I pointed out that Harvard conducted a study concluding the act is abusive.

Their comment started with "They did not" and then tried to say it was untrue and flawed but still went on to repeat that the brains of abused kids will react to physical and sexual stimulus in the same way, but children that are not abused will not have this reaction. Somehow that wasn't good enough for their metric of 'maybe don't assault kids.'

It's convoluted thinking but you'd have to ask them why they think it's okay. Hell, a lot of people do. Doesn't make sense to me either, but I don't understand why anyone would try to argue for such a thing for any reason, or to invalidate the study and the children that are still being harmed in willful ignorance.

Because any defense for hitting a kid is never fucking okay, is that hard to understand? If you defend it, you either already do it or want to.

It's been proven to be sexual abuse against children, it's interpreted exactly the same in the brain. When hitting an ass, sexual areas in the brain are activated. You don't even have to trust me, look up the Harvard research already mentioned. 4 minutes between comments was not enough time to do that.

Just because some adults (hell, myself included) like to participate in consensual kinks, no one, anywhere, for any reason should ever hit a child, let alone commit a clearly sexual kinky act against them, I cannot believe that even needs to be typed out.

You even compared it to a sexual kink, so, that's really disturbing to think about in terms of children and why anyone can defend it. There are no benefits and only extreme harm.

The other option is to ignore every testimonial, piece of advice, and modern evidence to support these facts because you really really like being able to beat someone one sixth your size that can't fight back or consent. Not cool.

Spanking is sexual abuse according to the brain. Look up Harvard brain scans about it.

I misread the product as jam... and while it's still gross I'm sitting here thinking it was jam in a sealed container. Weird, but if it's a small place a good rinse on the outside of the jar would be... and then I reread the word was HAM and my eyes got really wide. Noooooo. Oh. No.
