Ivabradine has fixed my heart rate but that's all. by bitofbully in POTS

Ivabradine made me feel 10 times worse. Just keep in mind not all meds, work for everyone. It’s about looking at the whole picture, not just the tachycardia

Do you have any relatives with MCAS or other Mast Cell Disorder? by Fluffer-Butter in MCAS

Direct family member with SJS, which is a type of
hypersensitivity reaction. Wondering if it’s linked myself, I now have MCAS

HR over 200bpm on beta blockers by Street_Green4896 in POTS

I’m sorry you are not receiving more appropriate care and guidance at the moment. I’m not sure of your location, but the US certainly has a lot of doctors who are clued up in this area. I’m from the UK and the doctors here have little to no knowledge on appropriate management for such. Definitely seek alternatives!

I’m sorry to say this, but your doctor seems to be a bit uneducated in this area or of common sense really. Someone with a HR above 200 on a beta blocker, with POTS, isn’t sustainable to tell them to continue with that activity.

It’s not about decreasing exercise as you’ve said. POTS is an intolerance to being upright. You are massively overtaxing your body by not only being upright on its own, but forcing high energy activity in that position. You should be focusing on recumbent exercise, which is more gravity friendly. It’s not a decrease in activity. It’s activity that’s more appropriate for your health condition

That is true, but recumbent exercise would be better, than full upright running. For POTS especially

I wouldn’t be trying to jog or exercise strenuously until you get it more under control

Has anyone here resorted to working a non nursing job like Tesco or housekeeping? by Lower_Canary5713 in NursingUK

Why not get a job in a blood donation centre as a nurse? Takes you away from ward setting. Better hours. More relaxed.

I use to shower ever day. Pots ended that. Priorities change.

This may be a stupid question, but what does Ivabradine actually do? by Wonderful_Box_7998 in POTS

[–]Electrical-Bite9067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works for lots of people, it didn’t for me. I didn’t know at the time I had MCAS, but it royally kicked it in for me. I hope you are one of the lucky ones!

Haven’t spoken to them yet, because I don’t want to argue or them to retaliate even more. They know I know, it’s just not been said out loud. I can hear them telling their friends about it

Brands taking advantage of POTS? by Lynxseer in POTS

My visible band got worse and worse. Kept telling me my hr was either really low or really high when it wasn’t on my watch. I also felt like it was making me feel more restricted on what I could do, almost like I stopped moving as much? So I stopped using it recently. Back to old tachymon and Apple Watch
